How to spend 7 days at the Bulimba Festival

If you’ve haven’t heard of the iconic Bulimba Festival, you’ve got until November 9 to read up on the annual food and wine fest, because this year it’s back bigger and better than ever, with an entire week of celebrations to put in your calendar! From November 9-15, Oxford Street will become foodie central (not that it isn’t already), with pop up events, food trucks and plenty of delicious happenings. With so much on, you might be overwhelmed by choice, so we’ve put together a list of the festivals must dos. All you have to do is make sure you have an appetite. Monday 9 What’s a festival without a flower crown or two? Feel the power of the flower at Blooms on Tap, where you can drown your Monday woes in boutique beers and flowers. Get your Stepford Wife on and learn to create a flower crown out of fresh garden blooms thanks to Flowers on Oxford while you sip a boutique beverage at Oxford Tap House. Tuesday 10 Got a few Bulimba restaurants you’d like to tick off your list? Work your way through a few of them on Tasting Tuesday! Take a progressive dinner stroll down Oxford Street restaurants like Barcadia, Oxford 152, Sugo Mi and The Jetty with tasting plates available at each. Menus haven’t been announced yet but, one things for sure, this dinner’s going to end in a food baby. Wednesday 11 If pizza and wine is your Match Made in Heaven, Panchos Pizza’s four course dinner matched with Italian and Australian wines will take you to utopia. The Oxford Street restaurant has been around for more than 25 years, so they know what they’re doing when it comes to a good supreme! Thursday 12 Food Jam at Oxford 152 will be turning up the festival volume, with a DJ pumping out cool beats from 5pm and food trucks to keep your energy levels high (unless, like us, you’re taking the food coma route). Enjoy the scrumptious eats of Mi Casa, Diego’s Dogs and J’Adore les Crepes and dance the food baby off until 10pm. Friday 13 Friday the 13th is only scary if you spend it alone, so join fellow movie buffs and enjoy gold class service at a grown up Movies in the Park, with a spooky showing planned to match the date. Panchos, Grill’d, Homeslice and Source Bulk Foods will be taking care of the movie snacks, so all you have to do is sit back on your picnic blanket with a drink and enjoy the show. Saturday 14 Keep that picnic blanket in the car for the River Regatta on Saturday. Watch the boat and sailing races with a cup of caffeine from Blue Poppy. Later in the day, enjoy the offerings of Newstead Brewery and tuck into a lunch from the Sailing Club and Golf Club. Sunday 15 Finish off the Festival in style at Lunch on the Lawn at Memorial Park. Enjoy live music and gourmet food from the surrounding restaurants, food trucks and licensed bars while you stroll around the market stalls and let the kids wear themselves out on activities like the soft play area for toddlers, jumping castles for bigger kids and climbing walls.
