How to be dad’s favourite child this Fathers Day

We’ll help you win some brownie points with the ol’ fella….

Looking for some cool ideas to booze and shmooze your old man this Father’s Day? Look no further!

WALKABOUT CREEK | THE GAP

Walkabout Creek, nestled in the bushy hills above Enoggera Reserve and just 25 mins from the CBD, are putting on feasts and festivities spanning over the entire day. From delicious all you can eat buffet breakfasts featuring good old bacon and eggs [and pancakes if you’re feeling naughty], to the full gamut of chicken, beef and pork for lunch. You can also enjoy share plates, pizzas and drinks in the afternoon, whilst listening to live music until the early evening. This event is ticketed so be sure to get in quick!

NEGRONI WEEK | FISH LANE

Negroni Week tickets are a sure way to secure your spot as “favourite child”. Not only are you boozing the old guy, but you get to spend quality time with him while you two trail along the bars and restaurants of Fish Lane. There will be tasty food available, various Negroni’s and Negroni inspired dishes, and even an epic block party to celebrate. One thing we cant guarantee… dad taking you [and not the other favourite child] to enjoy the festivities with him. [Just kidding, it’s definitely you.]

W HOTEL | BRISBANE

[W]hats not on offer at one of Brisbane’s most beautiful hotels – the W Hotel? The WET Deck offers unbelievable river views and good beats, with refreshing cocktails, nibbles and share plates. You also have the option to get a voucher for the hotel’s AWAY Spa for the likes of a luxurious Himalayan Salt back scrub. If you are REALLY looking to win some brownie points, book a little staycation for the old man. [Getting in the good books for shiz with that one!]

THE STAR | GOLD COAST

On the coast this Fathers Day? The options to wine and dine dad are seemingly endless at The Star. With Nineteen’s famous slow roasted prime rib of beef, or Cucina Vivo’s famous surf ‘n turf dinner, you’ll be sure that the old man will leave loved up, full bellied and satisfied. Score!

JW MARRIOTT | GOLD COAST

So, dad considers himself a bit of a foodie, hey? Well, our friends at JW Marriott on the coast are putting on a spread. Dad has the option of a Seafood Buffet [oh hello!] at Citrique – which includes a drinks package; a Tepenyaki experience at Misono featuring an ever favourite Wagyu steak; or a Brazillian BBQ at Chapter & Verse. Meat your heart out!

FISH LANE | SOUTH BRISBANE

Is Dad a morning person? BillyKart West End are offering up a delicious Fathers Day brunch from 8am – 2pm. For one day only, the cafe is bringing back The OG Aussie Asians eggs – a top pick on their menu for almost a decade. If an afternoon pub grub is more Dad’s style, check out Saccharomyces are hosting a Fathers Day Roast and Beer. For the wine connoisseur Dad, Maeve Wine Bar are hosting a Fathers Day long lunch, with a menu along the lines of Smoked River Trout Rillettes, Goats Cheese Souffle with Rocket Salad, and Confit Duck Pithier… and of course exquisite wines to match.

GIFT IDEAS

Got a Dad who prefers something a little bit more low key? Family favourite Cadbury’s have released a new range specifically for Dad’s this Fathers Day [even though we are happy to nibble on the chocolatey delights ourselves]. Old Gold now has a Peanut and Honeycombe flavour [um… YUM], and the Cadbury’s coated nuts range has also expanded. [Don’t worry, we will hold the “nuts” puns… this time..]

So… low key Dad isnt a fan of chocolate or being boozed and shmoozed? Beneficial Beer Co have a low carb, low calorie, alcohol free lager, brewed the traditional way so it does not compromise the beer taste. Sounds like a pretty good alternative for the conscientious Dad.

Shmooze, booze, or snooze your dad… you now have some options that will ensure you don’t looze [see what we did there] the “Favourite Child” award this year. Best of luck!
