From Court to Coast: SeaLink and Brisbane Bullets Take Fans to Straddie

Basketball and beach escapes might seem like an unlikely duo, but a new partnership between SeaLink South East Queensland and the Brisbane Bullets is set to change that.

Announced on 29 August, the collaboration aims to connect fans with one of Queensland’s most iconic destinations, North Stradbroke Island, or Minjerribah.

The initiative blends the excitement of professional sport with the laid-back beauty of Straddie. At Bullets’ home games, fans can expect Straddie-themed activations, from vibrant island-inspired promotions to interactive competitions with trips to the island up for grabs. Supporters will also see the island come to life through digital and social media campaigns, with players and the club showcasing Straddie’s beaches, culture, and a whole lot of adventure.

Just a short ferry ride from Brisbane, North Stradbroke offers a winning line-up of experiences: whale watching at Point Lookout, bushwalks along the North Gorge, beach days at Cylinder and Main Beach, and fresh seafood straight from the water. Visitors can also engage with the Quandamooka People, Traditional Custodians of the island, through cultural tours and storytelling.

SeaLink General Manager Ben Renwick said the partnership was about more than sport and travel, it was about community. “We’re excited to invite Bullets fans to experience the island for themselves and see why it’s one of Queensland’s most treasured destinations,” he said.

Brisbane Bullets CEO Malcolm Watts agreed: “North Stradbroke Island is one of Queensland’s most iconic destinations, and this partnership gives us a fantastic opportunity to share it with our fans.”

With game-day activations sparking curiosity and SeaLink ferries making the journey easy, this collaboration promises fans a new kind of victory, one that goes beyond the scoreboard and into the heart of Queensland’s coastal beauty.
