Negroni Week is once again setting up shop in the Fish Lane Arts Precinct, where even more of the laneway’s fantastic venues are teaming up to serve up over 20 negroni-inspired cocktails, perfectly paired bites, and maybe even a few sweet surprises. The festivities run from September 16 to 22, giving you a whole week to sip, savour, and explore.
Backed by Campari, the red heart of every Negroni — and presented in partnership with Imbibe Magazine, this global charity initiative hands over the power of fundraising to bars and restaurants worldwide. With every negroni sold, proceeds are donated to the Slow Food charity, proving that doing good has never tasted so great.
Get ready to raise a glass all week long to some seriously inventive negroni creations! Bird’s Nest is shaking things up with their Umegroni, a Japanese-style twist featuring brown sugar-infused plum wine, Roku gin, and Campari — a little sweet, a little bitter, and a whole lot of delicious. Meanwhile, El Planta is bringing the heat with the Lecho de Muerte, a smoky mix of mezcal ancho, chilli liqueur, Campari, Davidson’s plum bitters, MAiDENii sweet vermouth, and orange bitters. And don’t miss the Cranpari by Southside, a bright and zesty concoction with Beefeater gin, cranberry grenadine, Campari, and lemon myrtle.
But it’s not just about the sips! Fish Lane’s Negroni Week will also be serving up some seriously delightful bites, like Hello Please’s smoked mortadella milk bun slathered with negroni mustard, plus Messina is joining in the festivities (cue the excited gasps of gelato lovers in Brisbane) with a a special negroni-inspired gelato.
In addition to the week-long sips available there is an epic lineup of red-inspired events. Kicking things off is New York-style hideaway Midtown Bar throwing a Negroni Week dinner on Wednesday, September 18, and trust us, you’ll want to be there. Think four courses, each with a perfect negroni pairing, from pumpkin and parmesan arancini served with a classic negroni to crispy prosciutto cups matched with a smoky negroni, and finishing with a blood orange and Campari curd tart paired with a martini-negroni mashup. It’s basically heaven on a plate (and in a glass).
Then, on Saturday, September 21, grab your walking shoes for the ‘Secret Handshake’ Art & Negroni Trail! This unique experience will take ticket holders on a leisurely tour of Fish Lane’s public artworks, with plenty of pit stops to sip on special negronis crafted just for the occasion.
And to top it all off, Bar Brutus is popping up at Fish Lane’s Town Square on September 20 and 21. Expect an exclusive menu of negronis, live entertainment, and those unforgettable moments that make you wish Negroni Week could last all year.
If you need an excuse to have a sneaky midweek cocktail, just remember it’s all in the name of charity!
