HAVE A COSY WINE NIGHT AT MAEVE
Looking for something a little classier? Maeve Wine Bar is the place for you. Upstairs on the corner of Melbourne Street and just above Fish Lane in South Brisbane, Maeve has a little something for everyone: great wine, excellent food from the mind of Chef Jesse (who also gets cheffy across the road at Hello Please), and people watching from one of the many windows? Date night’s practically sorted itself! You can make a booking here.
TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE NEW AT HELLO PLEASE
If you don’t want the hassle of trying to navigate into the city for dinner, stop short and be delighted by the selection on Fish Lane. More specifically, the perfect middle ground of Asian flavours and excellent service, in a spot so cool you’ll be talking about it weeks later is Hello Please. They’ve got weekly specials that’ll knock your socks off, and a menu to match. Check them out here.
GET FANCY AT PATINA AT CUSTOMS HOUSE
The date spot you want to book to hint at marriage is a total no-brainer to us. Nestled in the wedding venue of everyone’s dreams, Patina at Customs House offers views, stellar service, and a menu that says everything, so you don’t have to. Cosy up on the river, order another glass of wine, and take it all in as the sun sets on the world’s most romantic spot to take that special someone to. Check out what they’ve got going on here.
SOAK IN THE GOOD VIBES AT WEST VILLAGE
Known for trendy spots and trendier eats, West Village is the date spot that just keeps on giving. With 2025 AGFG Chef Hat-awarded restaurants like Rich and Rare and Ippin Dining to Italian Street Kitchen and Picnic Cafe for our more brunch-inclined daters, we’re simply spoiled for choice. Add on an hour or more of Soak Bathhouse’s rooftop oasis, and you’ve got yourself a date for the history books. Hit up their website here for all the deals and details you could need.
SPLASH OUT AT TELLUS
This modern Australian restaurant had everyone buzzing back when it opened in July this year, and we’re *still* talking about it, so you *know* it’s good! Parked front and centre in The Barracks shopping centre, Tellus is the spot you take that date when you’re punching up. With dishes like lamb nam tok, foie gras and duck rolls, and sporting MB8+ Wagyu steak, treat yourself and your date to a dinner date you won’t soon forget. You can book lunch and dinner sittings on their website here.
LET DARTS FLY AT OCHE
At BOB, we’re all about letting sparks fly over some friendly competition. If you’re all about letting your date know who’s boss, trying your hand at darts at Oche is your best bet. With a few cheeky G&Ts and some great snacks to keep your throwing arm fueled, it’s a great way to do something a little different come date night. And with electronic dart boards, there’s no way they can cheat (even if you swear they are). Hit up their website for more here.
‘PAC’ THOSE BAGS AND HEAD TO NETHERWORLD
And on that friendly competition note, of course, we’re going to mention the mountains of fun you can have at Netherworld (right around the corner from Fortitude Valley train station, fyi). If you’re into the arcade bars of yore, Netherworld is the portal to the grungy, cool backstreets of the 80s… and is a great spot to take that special someone to let them know you’re cool without saying so. With bespoke cocktails and an easy menu, it’s a no-brainer for your next date night. Check out their game list here.
WANDER HOWARD SMITH WHARVES
Indecisive? Overwhelmed? About to book the same place you take every date? We feel you. Howard Smith Wharves is the smorgasbord you’ve been looking for. It may be a nightmare to park around, but if you’re up for the challenge, you’ll reap the rewards. Felons, Mr Percival’s, Greca, Stanley, Yoko… the list goes on. It’s also connected by a great walk offering views of the Story Bridge and Brisbane River, so you can walk off all the food you just ate with your date. Can’t go wrong!
That’s only the tip of the very date-worthy iceberg, but if it’s got you thinking you might need to step up your first, second, or third date game, that’s a win for us.
