What to eat and drink this Easter weekend

Long weekend incoming!

Staying in town for Easter? Venturing over the border? Regardless of your plans, we’ve got everything you need to eat and drink this long weekend.

Happy Easter, pals!

EAT ME

Gourmet | Jasmine tea smoked duck curry from Naga Thai | CBD

In need of a hearty, filling lunch to get you through the long weekend? Look no further. Tuck into Naga Thai’s hearty jasmine tea smoked duck red curry, made with pak-chee, coconut milk, kaffir lime leaf, chilli and Thai basil.  It will make you a very happy bunny indeed.

Hot tip:  Make sure you order the Sar Rar Bow (massaman beef in a milk bun) as an entree!

Gourmand | Schnitzel platter from Bavarian | Various Locations

Gather your extended family this Easter and bond over a giant schnitzel platter filled with schnittys, house-baked pretzels, traditional sauerkraut, red cabbage, potato salad, apple compote and creamy mashed potato. Holy wow! You can even upgrade to a two-hour drink package or add on a cinnamon doughnut pretzel for dessert!.

But wait, there’s more. In the spirit of chocolate…I mean Easter…the Bavarian are wheeling out Willy Wonka style golden tickets with these platters for three lucky winners across the country to win a YEAR’S supply of schnitty goodness!

Hot tip: If you’re up to the challenge, try their loaded 1kg schnitzel challenge!

DRINK ME

Gourmet | Strawberry Letter 23 cocktail at Light Years | Byron Bay

Heading across the border for the Easter long weekend? Don’t forget to make a reservation at Light Years. Their Byron Bay location has reopened after the devastating floods, and they’ve launched an exciting selection of cocktails that truly deserve a mention – particularly the slightly spicy daiquiri inspired cocktail, Strawberry Letter 23.

Made with fresh strawberry, Havana 3 rum, apricot brandy, cucumber, lime and jalapeno, this is sure to be a relaxing (and refreshing) treat for even the busiest of Easter bunnies.

Hot tip: Pair your cocktail with a serving of mud crab, prawn and scallop dumplings!

Gourmand | Royal Rita Show margaritas at El Camino | Bowen Hills

While we may not get to experience the real Royal Easter Show, our friends at El Camino have put together their own Easter carnival full of themed margaritas and tacos. With six new show-bag-style carnival margs including Jelly Belly, Rainbow Nerd, and Trolli Lolli, you’re in for a whole lotta fun this Easter!

If you miss out this weekend, the Royal Rita Show will be around until April 30.

Hot tip: Try the popcorn chicken tacos!
