December bucket list

Let’s pack her up in style.

Yes, it totally feels like we’re still in April. But somehow this year is in its final month, and we’re ready to eat and drink our way into 2021. Read on to see what’s happening in Brisbane this delicious December!

Eat Street Northshore | Hamilton

Eat Street Northshore is back from Friday, December 4–the same day we stop trying to get that beach-ready body. Adhering to COVID-safe requirements, Eat Street’s new opening hours are between 4 pm and 10 pm on Friday and Saturday nights, and 4 pm to 9 pm on Sundays.

Eagle Street Openings | CBD

Another Brisbane icon is making a comeback, with a stunning new look to boot! Cha Cha Char Steak and Lobster will continue to grill up perfect steaks just like it used to, but when it reopens later this month it’ll also be slinging fresh seafood (including whopping lobsters!) and an impressive alfresco dining area. Modern Italian eatery COPPA will take over the prime spot previously home to Il Centro in mid-December, with an emphasis on Aussie produce and making the most of that epic view.

Fish Lane Town Square | South Brisbane

Fish Lane has always been a dining destination, but this December it’s taking things to the next level! The recently opened Town Square is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of South Brisbane, and is now home to three dining and drinking haunts. Julius Pizzeria’s little sibling Bar Brutus has opened across the lane, slinging aperitivo and small bites well into the night, while Kiki kiosk pours coffees seven days a week. Southside (from the team behind Rick Shores and Little Valley) will open shop on Friday, December 4, with an impressive and fragrant east-Asian menu.

New Year’s Eve | Various Locations

2020’s been a tough one, and we’re ready to make this New Year’s Eve the littest one yet (yes, it’s a word!). For foodies, One Fish Two Fish’s Seafood Disco can’t be beat, with course after course of fresh seafood and prosecco, while Sofitel Brisbane Central is bringing back the famed buffet for the night! If cocktails by the river is more your thing, Mary Mae’s and Jade Buddha have you covered, while Covent Garden is set to host an All You Can Gin event, to which we say “challenge accepted.” Read our full roundup and snap up your tickets here.

Tafari Pop-Up |  Honour Ave Cellars

Wednesday, December 16 will see a pan-African pop-up at Honour Ave Cellars for one night only. With years of Michelin-starred experience under his belt, chef Lee Sibanda will man the kitchen to deliver five courses of African and Caribbean flavours. To nab a ticket to Tafari, simply email lee@malirose.com.au.

Comuna Cantina | CBD

Instagrammable cocktails. Banging Mexican eats. Prime inner-city location. Of course we’re talking about the brand new Comuna Cantina that’s set to open on Thursday, December 3. The fresh Creek Street location will deliver everything you know and love about Comuna Cantina, PLUS a sun-soaked alfresco area and three new signature sips: Crème Brulee, Lemon Meringue and Strawberry Cheesecake.

WingFest | WingHAÜS

While you’re in the CBD, be sure to swing by WingHAÜS by Bavarian for WingFest––a three-month celebration of wings! Kicking off on Tuesday, December 1, WingFest will see 13 limited-edition house-made sauces and rubs join the menu, including nacho cheese, chicken salt, sweet and sour, mango habanero, and more.

Christmas Specials | La Macelleria Gelateria

Now, let’s finish with dessert. La Macelleria Gelateria is serving up a flurry of Christmas specials, ranging from gelato bauables to sweet yule log cakes and Christmas tree gelato cakes that can feed ten of your best mates! Their gelato-filled panettone is a Christmas miracle in itself, and La Macelleria is giving one away for free–head here to see how you can go in the running!

Wow. What a month.
