December bucket list

Finish 2019 in fine foodie fashion.

Oh, December! You crept up on us, but we’re happy you’re here. We particularly love all the eating and drinking that will occur across our next 31 days together…

Jocelyn’s Provisions Bake For A Farmer | Albion

Starting our December in a delicious (and charitable) manner, Sunday, December 1 sees Jocelyn’s Provisions hold a bake sale at Albion Fine Trades to raise funds for Australia’s drought relief. Expect to see delicious baked goodies on offer from some or Brisbane’s best, including Jocelyn’s, Arc Dining, Ben Williamson, e’cco bistro, Gerard’s Bistro, Hellenika, Tartufo and many more.

Beerhaüs Summer Sessions | Bowen Hills

Keeping things tasty until December 31, summer sessions at Beerhaüs Bowen Hills will see your favourite parts of summer delivered with a German twist! Summer Sessions marks the arrival of some fresh new menu items and four stein-sized share cocktails including the Chambord rosé sangria or Lynchburg Lemonade. With the help of South Australia’s Pirate Life Brewery, four unique and tangy sour beers have been added to Beerhaüs’ already extensive roster, and new eats include crispy pork bao buns with cabbage slaw, sweet BBQ sauce and spring onions, and a hummus platter with grilled pita, carrot, cucumber and pickled onions.

Summer Racing Carnival | Eagle Farm

Whip out that frock you’ve been waiting to wear, and get ready for a December full of cocktails, champagne and gourmet eats! Gather your loved ones and head out to Eagle Farm, with discount packages for groups and ticket options for those after schmancy fancy day out, or a more casual affair. Enjoy trackside views, bars and eateries from just $10, or go for a full tapas-style lunch with arancini, lamb cutlets, grilled tiger prawns and more!

Hilton Festive Flavours| CBD

Enjoy nothing but the most festive of flavours at Vintaged Bar + Grill at Hilton Brisbane this December with their drool-worthy two-course lunch menu. The Festive Flavours menu is just $39 per person, making it a perfect spot for lunch before or after doing some Christmas shopping in the CBD. Entrée options are full of fresh, summery flavours like the prosciutto and melon salad with fresh mint, crumbled feta and a caramelised honey-thyme dressing. Main course offerings have a focus on classic Christmas flavours and fresh produce, like the grilled Angus beef rump steak with potato mash, roast carrots, blistered cherry tomatoes and red wine jus.

Christmas Putt Putt at Victoria Park | Herston

We like big putts and we cannot lie. Victoria Park’s beloved Christmas putt putt is a hole-in-one, and the perfect way to mix up your end-of-year celebrations. Work your way through a Christmas wonderland putt putt course, stopping by candy cane lane, reindeer meadow and Santa’s stop, with a cheeky vino in hand! If things don’t get too competitive, finish with nibbles and a wood-fired pizza (or five) at Victoria Park Bistro, and consider your day sorted.

GREY GOOSE pop-up | Fortitude Valley

As Lizzo wisely said, “blame it on the Goose.” Iconic French vodka brand Grey Goose has partnered with Eleven Rooftop Bar to deliver a summer full of the good stuff! While you take in 270-degree views across Brissy, enjoy the Grey Goose-themed bar and specialty cocktails, like the Pornstar Martini made with Grey Goose La Vanille – which is being poured exclusively at Eleven Rooftop Bar. For those wanting to try their hand at mixology, masterclasses will be held on Sunday 8 and Sunday 15 December, teaching you how to create a range of delicious Grey Goose cocktails.

Brunch Voyage – Mykonos | Fortitude Valley

The Osbourne Hotel’s Brunch Voyage series takes guests to a different luxury destination each month with a 2.5-hour bottomless brunch inspired by the cocktails and flavours of the featured city. This month, the Osbourne Hotel is transporting you straight to Mykonos! The white-themed event will feature all the best parts of the Mamma Mia movies (unfortunately Colin Firth won’t be there), and loads of delicious Greek flavours. Think watermelon and cucumber punch, grapefruit and rosemary refreshers and mimosas, to wash down your choice of Mykonos-inspired brunch items. Opa!

Big Screen on The Green | Eagle Farm

It’s officially time to go full-Christmas. Bask in all the festive cheer with the return of Big Screen on the Green, showing our fave Christmas movies on the largest screen in the Southern Hemisphere on December 16-19! Elf will be kicking things off, followed by Polar Express, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and Home Alone There is, of course, food involved… The Aussie Christmas or Merry Christmas hampers will have you feasting on the likes of fresh Mooloolaba prawns, wood-roasted salmon with crème fraiche, prosciutto and honeydew melon, mango cheeks, cherries, and more!

Tetto Rooftop and Corbett & Claude opening | Everton Park

There is an exciting new rooftop bar coming to the northside, from the minds that brought us Comuna Cantina and Corbett & Claude. Friday, 6 December will see Tetto Rooftop Bar and a brand new Corbett & Claude open in Everton Plaza, bringing the sun-soaked coastal bars of Italy to Brissy! Expect loads of rustic Italian aesthetics and a menu fuelled by summer flavours, with a focus on refreshing cocktails.

Always remember… calories don’t count during the silly season.
