Brisbane’s most cyclist friendly cafés

Okay bike buffs, it’s time to take off the training wheels (and maybe pick out some looser active wear), ‘cause your balanced diet starts today!

And by balanced, we mean on two wheels. Relax.

When the only fuel our transport needs is a good eggs Benny, you can pretty much assume it’s our favourite way to travel, so we were all too happy to hunt down Brisbane’s best cyclist friendly spots. Strap on that helmet and get ready to roll: it’s ride or diet.

Two Wheels and a Handlebar | Milton

PSA: if the name didn’t give this one away, you’re clearly in need of a coffee. Boasting bicycle-themed digs and plenty of room to park your ride, this popular refuelling spot dishes out freshly baked Italian pastries and sandwiches to daily cyclist crowds.

Little Hideout Café | Balmoral

Our visits to this Riding Road spot (nudge, nudge) are becoming a vicious cycle. Do we pick the truffle oil scrambled eggs with smoked salmon? Or the cauliflower fritters with chorizo and poached eggs? Either way, this is where you can catch us hiding out at 6:30am every weekday.

Jessie’s Girl| Petrie Terrace

We just can’t handle(bar) the irony: this trendy café was once the workshop of a local cycling champ. No need to wish that you had Jessie’s Girl – simply spring(field) in for their quinoa, babaganoush, and broccoli breakfast bowl between 7am-12pm.

Musette Cafe | King Street

Attention cycologists – prepare to meet your new muse, Musette Café! Hidden inside the bike mecca that is CAMS Cycling Collective, Musette hawks to fellow helmet heads nourishing bites such as the QOM (poke bowl with eggs, fresh greens, roasted cherry tomatoes, avocado, brown rice, and quinoa and the requisite delicious coffee.

End of the Road Coffee | New Farm

End of the road, start to a regretfully oversized feast. Clamber onto this famous New Farm balcony for healthy starts, gourmet toasties with blue cheese and prosciutto (we’ll have five, thanks), and cheeky shortbread cookies. Yeah, we usually have to stop to make sure our bikes are the only things rolling.

Jacu Espresso | Norman Park

Time to get pumped! (And we’re not talking about your tyres.) Cruise down to this corner café to meet up with all your lycra-clad mates for a post-ride meal from Jacu’s all day menu boasting house pea and herb falafel as well as Tasmanian beetroot cured salmon (cue drooling).

Pourboy | South Brisbane

With a prime location on the South Bank strip and some cycle-esque neon lights, it’s safe to say these boys know biking’s just part and parcel in the circle of life. Pop in from 6am on weekdays for their mixed mushroom and spinach toastie or delectable croque madame.

Rose & Edward Espresso | Windsor

Set your ride on Rose & Edward’s wall-mounted racks – you’ll want both hands for this menu. The cleverly-dubbed menu items, like ‘The Staple,’ their bacon and egg wrap, are so good you’ll even forget about that helmet hair.

Espresso Garage | South Brisbane

Due for a service? This hole-in-the-wall South Bank spot is loved by the early-morning cyclist crowd. With plenty of spots to park and enough smashed avo to have you effortlessly cruising across the Go Between bridge, this one’s right in our wheelhouse.

Tyred of the bike jokes yet? OK, wheel stop.
