Brisbane’s best waffles

Brisbane’s Best Waffles
Yeah, we’ll say it. They’re better than pancakes.

We think that waffles are one of the greatest foods of all time and knead at least one stack a day to survive. Whether you’re a seasoned waffle-lover, or just getting started, check out our list below for the best our city has to offer.

MISS JONES | NEW FARM

We don’t want to waffle on, but there’s just so much to say about Miss Jones and her TWO amazing waffles. Combining the two best breakies in the world (don’t fight us on this one), Miss Jones offers an eggs Benedict waffle–with a sweet potato waffle base, greens, bacon, poached eggs and curry hollandaise. For a sweet start to your day, opt for the banoffee-style beauty with caramelized banana, meringue, butterscotch sauce, gingerbread crumb and coffee gelato.

THE MAILLARD PROJECT | CBD

Looking to start your day on a high? Indulge in a cookies and cream waffle with marshmallow cream, Oreo mascarpone, cookie and white chocolate soil, berries, and vanilla ice cream while you sip on your morning cappuccino. That’s living.

LITTLE CLIVE | ANNERLEY

There’s nothing little about the larger-than-life waffles at Little Clive. Keeping things simple but darn effective, this waffle is dressed with seasonal fruit, chocolate sauce, and ice cream.

SISTER CAFÉ | HAWTHORNE

It’ll arrive at your table and you’ll think it’s almost too pretty to eat. Then you’ll lose all self control and dive straight into it and leave with no regrets. We are, of course, talking about Sister Café’s iconic espresso buttermilk waffle with espresso cream, honeycomb, macadamia crumb, dulce de leche, and vanilla bean gelato.

CORNER STORE CAFÉ | TOOWONG

Sweet or savoury? Corner Store Café says “porque no los dos!” This all-day treat is a perfect marriage of flavours, and something that needs to be tasted to be believed. We’re talking blueberry and cinnamon waffles loaded up with crispy bacon, Canadian maple syrup, espresso gelato, and strawberry compote.

LADY MARMALADE | STONES CORNER

It’s one of those dishes that we hope and pray never leaves the menu. Lady Marmalade’s confit duck chilli cornbread waffle makes us drool just thinking about it–chilli cornbread-style waffle topped with confit duck Maryland, pecan butter, fried egg, candied pecans and maple chilli sauce.

NAÏM | PADDINGTON

Listen carefully, because this brunch treat might just change your life… Spanish crème brûlée waffles. Think cinnamon-dusted Belgian waffles topped with crumbed churros, fresh fruit, spiced chocolate caramel, and vanilla flan.

LITTLE LOCO | NEW FARM

If you want to start living la vida loca, head on over to Little Loco, whose eggs and waffle Benedict boasts a cheddar and chive infused waffle topped with two poached eggs and covered in chipotle hollandaise. If you’re after something on the sweeter side, give their Golden Gaytime waffles a try, and be spoilt with a house-made Belgian waffle topped with ice cream, peanut crumb, sticky caramel sauce, chocolate lashings, and honeycomb dust.

KETTLE & TIN | PADDINGTON

You knew it was coming… It’s chicken waffles time! Kettle & Tin is famous for its take on the classic, serving a cornbread waffle with crispy chicken thigh, sriracha maple, and Asian herbs. Sweet, salty and soulful, this particular breakie has saved us from a hangover more times than we’d care to share.

PICNIC CAFÉ ǀ CAMP HILL

A mind-blowing fusion of flavours and the perfect Sunday breaky, Picnic Café’s citrus waffles are loaded with coconut ice cream, lemon curd, bacon bits, lemon crisp, maple syrup, strawberries and mandarin.

There’s a waffle lot to love about Brisbane.
