Brisbane's best meat-free fine dining

The vego life chose us.

For your munching pleasure, we’ve collated a list of Brisbane’s finest vegetarian fare from restaurants that deserve no less than five stars. Here’s where you fancy herbivores can spend your green dollarydoos in return for Brisbane’s grandest meat-free dining this season!

ROGUE BISTRO | NEWSTEAD

If you’re looking for the finest of the fine, look no further than Rogue Bistro, who offer vego AND vegan equivalents to their sophisticated six-course degustation menu. Plant-based pals can enjoy plate after plate of treats like charcoal-smoked eggplant with miso vegan cream cheese and seaweed caviar, pumpkin gratin with potato skin purée, truffle asparagus and kipfler crisps, and strawberries and cream–vegan meringue with pandan coconut cream and strawberry sorbet.

PATINA AT CUSTOMS HOUSE | CBD

Perch yourself at this riverfront beauty and enjoy a menu that caters to all (with a handful of meat-free plates to gawk over). A Patina classic, the mushroom tarte Tatin with onion caramel, truffle, and crème fraîche is a must-order, along with the house-made gnocchi with zucchini flower, tomato, basil, and roasted ricotta.

SIGNATURE | SOUTH BRISBANE

If you’re looking for a special occasion dinner spot that’s vego friendly, keep Signature in mind. Not only will the decor stun, but Signature gives diners the option of crafting their own six-course meal.

Choose to go with the Signature Experience and pick divine meat-free dishes like char-grilled asparagus with peas, broad beans, preserved lemon, blood orange and hazelnut, pumpkin cannelloni with toasted buckwheat and almond foam, and tofu ‘cheesecake’ with passionfruit glaze, poached rhubarb, and candied ginger.

DETOUR | WOOLLOONGABBA

If it’s creative contemporary cuisine you’re after then Detour should be at the top of your list, with dishes that are pushing the boundaries for omnivores and herbivores alike.

You may know them as the restaurant that invented the Kentucky fried duck, but their vego offerings are just as stellar. Have your tastebuds tantalised with dishes like beetroot tartare with mustard, macadamia and capers, the smoked pumpkin with maple and pepitas, or the tempura eggplant with green mango, papaya, and Vietnamese mint.

OTTO RISTORANTE | CBD

Vegan dining with a view? OTTO is now offering vegan diners their own dedicated menu of tasty Italian fare, with a pretty stunning backdrop to boot. There’s a selection of delightful plant-based meals like fried artichokes with cavolo nero, peas, broad beans, and preserved lemon, and a rich chocolate mousse with cherry sorbet, coconut granita, and chocolate crumb. Chef’s kiss.

DEER DUCK BISTRO | MILTON

Opt for the delightful a la carte menu or go all out with the five-, six-, or nine-course vegetarian degustations at Deer Duck Bistro! No matter which you run with, you can expect absolute flavour bombs like oil sand tacos with orange and fennel salad, wakame, Savoy cabbage, blueberry, guacamole, and Thai chilli sauce.

This is just the veganning, Brisbane.
