Brisbane’s best takes on eggs Benedict

Are you team traditional, or do you prefer your Benny pimped out?

Let’s face it, anything with bacon and hollandaise is automatically delicious.

Eggs Benedict is one of those timeless breakies, and we’ve rounded up our favourites from across town. The list makes for a quite the tasty morning…

MICA BRASSERIE | NEWSTEAD

They say it’s all in the name, and Mica’s offering is aptly named Like eggs Benedict, but better.

This gourmet take on the classic is jazzed up with red gum-smoked pork jowl finished on the grill, a housemade English-style muffin, a free-range egg, and a chardonnay vinegar hollandaise. It’s also the star of the show on Mica’s epic breakfast tasting menu, should you wish to kick off your day with five courses!

MISS JONES | NEW FARM

This lovely lady knows how to serve up an A1 breaky every damn time. Her eggs Benedict–on a sweet potato waffle with greens, bacon, poached eggs, and curry hollandaise– is our go-to.

BILLYKART | WEST END

Eggs Benny, but make it gourmet as heck.

This classy West End spot is serving up a decadent cheese souffle with poached eggs, cured salmon or bacon, and a herbed hollandaise.

TODD & PUP | MOOROOKA

They’re the three words every foodie loves to hear: fried chicken Benedict.

This suburban spot serves up one of the best we’ve ever had, complete with Sabarac chilli brined chicken thigh, smoked bacon, poached eggs, collard greens, and sriracha hollandaise on sourdough.

MY MISTRESS | CLAYFIELD

With a saucy menu dedicated to famous mistresses, our eyes shot straight to the eggs Marilyn–with wilted spinach, poached eggs, and house-made hollandaise on a toasted bagel with your choice of bacon, mushies, ham, or hot smoked salmon. It was love at first bite for us.

LITTLE LOCO | NEW FARM

Take a humble eggs Benny, give it a Carson Kressley-inspired make-over, and you’ll end up with Little Loco’s 10/10 eggs and waffle Benedict. We’re talking savoury cheddar and chive waffle, poached eggs, and chipotle hollandaise. Yas.

MORNING AFTER | WEST END

An icon of Brisbane’s breaky scene, we HAD to include Morning After in this roundup! Their eggs Benny is left-field, but insanely tasty. Think potato rosti topped with wood-smoked salmon, poached eggs, hollandaise, pickled daikon, salmon pearls and dill labneh.

SASSAFRAS OF PADDINGTON | PADDINGTON

What if we told you that you could have a classic eggs Benny, but with hash browns instead of toast/muffins. Anyone else’s breathing just get a little heavy?

SOUTHSIDE BISTRO | SUNNYBANK

You can always expect punchy flavours and intriguing flavour combos at this Sunnybank joint! Their Benny is no exception, with kimchi bacon, poached eggs, and gochujang hollandaise on a flaky croissant.

DEEDOT COFFEE HOUSE | HOLLAND PARK WEST

Head to glorious Holland Park and enjoy an even more glorious breaky of smokehouse bacon, poached eggs, and chipotle hollandaise on a house-made potato hash with pea puree. A little birdie told us this dish is the perfect hangover cure, just quietly…

PAWPAW | WOOLLOONGABBA

Jazz up your Sunday morning with a croissant eggs Benedict courtesy of Pawpaw! Take your pick of bacon, salmon, haloumi, or avo alongside perfectly poached eggs, smoked paprika hollandaise, and spinach.

ASHTON & OLD | CAMP HILL

For a drool-worthy eggs Benny, it’s gotta be Ashton & Old. Pulled pork, poached eggs, spinach, house hickory, and hollandaise on ciabatta. Drool.

GOODNESS GRACIOUS CAFÉ | GRACEVILLE

When you combine our favourite pastry and our favourite savoury breaky, you’re automatically in our good books. Goodness Gracious Café’s croissant Benedict with smoked salmon, free-range eggs, kaffir lime hollandaise, and shallot crumbs is pure bliss.

PICNIC CAFÉ | CAMP HILL

If you thought there were some wild Bennys on this list, just you wait…

Picnic Café’s croissant prawn Benedict takes the cake–with coconut tempura prawns, hollandaise, mixed salad, poached eggs, and sumac salt. Boom.

There’s one thing we can all agree on… Hollandaise is the GOAT.
