Brisbane's best steaks

Stick a fork in us. We’re done.

Brissy, we’ve got beef.

If you thought a delicious steak was rare to come by in our city, you’d better think again. We’ve herded together a list of the best steaks Brisbane has to offer.

BLACKBIRD BAR AND GRILL | CBD

Did someone order perfect river views on the side of their melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu? It’s no secret that Blackbird is the best of the best, offering a substantial steak menu alongside elegant main plates, share plates, and shellfish platters. It’s too hard to pick just one beefy number, but we always, always recommend ordering a side of Blackbird’s signature shoestring fries with lemon myrtle aioli and saltbush…

NORMAN HOTEL | WOOLLOONGABBA

Known across town as being “Brisbane’s worst vegetarian restaurant” (love that TBH), the Norman is equal parts local pub and top-notch steakhouse. After you’ve demolished some wagyu brisket springs rolls to start, you have the choice of over 16 steaks to satisfy the rumble.

KINGSLEYS | CBD

Is it bad that we love Kingsley’s sides and toppers just as much as the steaks? With an emphasis on Queensland-based produce and top-quality beef, we’re having our yardstick striploin topped with crab and with a side of Paris mash, thanks!

WALTER’S STEAKHOUSE AND BAR | CBD

Where better than the timeless Walter’s to enjoy a gorgeous dry-aged steak with a side of New York City wanderlust? Alongside pristine views of the nearby Botanic Gardens comes Walter’s house speciality: Australian grain-fed beef, dry-aged and cut in-house. Those CBD corporate lunches just got a whole lot better.

LES BUBBLES | FORTITUDE VALLEY

Life’s les bubbles in this Valley hotspot, especially when you get your hands on their one and only steak frites! Enjoy it buffet-style (aka all you can eat chips) with a soft leaf salad and your choice of either Café de Paris, green peppercorn and cognac, or bearnaise sauce.

BLACK HIDE | PETRIE TERRACE AND CBD

With more awards than a champion bull, Black Hide has a reputation for being nothing short of perfect (and it’s very well deserved). Only the best cuts of prime Angus, wagyu and organic beef make it to the grill (with sides to match). If your appetite is insurmountable, then the only thing that’s going to fix it is the tomahawk: a massive 1200g cut cooked the way you like it. Share with a few others, or devour it yourself (if you dare).

BREAKFAST CREEK HOTEL | ALBION

Say hola to the range of cuts in the historic Breakfast Creek Hotel’s Spanish Beer Garden steakhouse. Take your pick from the classics, and choose to partner it with coleslaw, salad, chips or an Idaho potato. Oh, and for an extra $10, you can top your steak with pork ribs. Please and thank you.

MOO MOO | CBD

An icon! Moo Moo’s name precedes it, and many Brisbanites firmly believe it’s the best in the business. With a superb selection of wine and special attention paid to sides, this place makes caveman cooking stylish again by roasting all the hand-selected beef over coal.

THE REGATTA HOTEL | TOOWONG

She’s the grand old lady of Brisbane, and she knows how to execute a steak perfectly. Catch us at The Boatshed hoeing into a medium-rare beauty, while getting saucy with their delicious blue cheese and port butter. Feeling a more casual occasion? Steak your claim on a 250gm rump with mushroom sauce, chips, and salad in the main bar.

FIASCO’S STEAKHOUSE | WOOLLOONGABBA

Dining at Fiasco’s at The Morrison is almost a rite of passage growing up in Brisbane. Whether it was a first date, a Father’s Day dinner or a pre-footy feed, this is one steakhouse we all have a fond memory of. With a long history behind them, these guys know what they’re doing when it comes to a good steak. But the main reason we love them? That premium filet mignon wrapped in bacon and char-grilled to perfection.

Not checking out these venues would be a grave missed-steak.

Keeping The G&G up to date with tasty tidbits requires a lot of lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally collaborate with local businesses we love, like this one.
