Brisbane's best Spanish restaurants

Hola amigos!

From manchego croquetas to paella and every sangria jug in between, Spanish fare is made for sharing. If you’ve got a craving for some spicy chorizo and crisp patatas, grab your amigos and find a table at one of these flavoursome spots.

Moda | CBD

Let chef Javier Codina guide you through an Iberian odyssey with the spotlight on Queensland produce! Highlights include duck liver parfait with Pedro Ximenez jelly,  fried Padron peppers with flaky salt (a must), seafood paellita, and smoked duck breast with salsa agresto. We can’t imagine a more perfect feed before catching some action at Suncorp!

Paella y Pa’mi | Coorparoo

Chef-owner Kevin Fredes brings his experience from working with everyone’s favourite Spanish chef, Miguel Maestre, to offer a menu of small snacks, tapas, and desserts, with the major focus, obviously, on the traditional paellas! Versions include a classic Valenciana (rabbit and chicken), squid ink and seafood, vegetarian and mixed Marysol paella (named for Chef’s daughter). The bar also stocks a great mix of Spanish wines and spirits, making it the perfect stop for a weekend escape to Espana!

Alba | CBD

Prepare yourself for seriously sexy snacks and hip hop beats! We’re talking daily croquetas, baked scallops with jamon, imported Spanish conservas (spicy sardines, mussels, anchovies) and jamon. For something a little larger, there’s meatballs with Manchego, roasted cauliflower in romesco, and tuna carpaccio, plus loads more to pair with a cava, Basque country wine or creative cocktail. Don’t skip the Basque cheesecakes for postres

Pata Negra | Bardon

This cosy little bar is all about an unforgettable tapas experience, serving the likes of bacalao pinchos, chorizo in cider, spicy prawns and croquetas! Visit on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday for a taste of their mixed paella, and ensure you loop back to the desserts list to sample warm arroz con leche rice pudding, churros, or house-made ice cream. You can book in for a paella cooking class, or have them cater an event with their huge paella pans, too!

Black Fire Restaurant | CBD

We can’t help but make heart eyes at the Spanish-Mediterranean delights on the menu at Black Fire, where ALMOST everything is gluten free! Tapas into their grilled king prawns, sherry-dressed duck breast, and classic crema Catalana. Wash it all down with a Spanish wine or colourful cocktail, and you’ll be flamenco-ing your way home *insert dancing lady emoji*.

Ole | South Bank

Ole is all about feasting with friends, which is why their entire menu is dedicated to share plates! Start with a sangria (they have six types!) and get your tastebuds ready for patatas bravas, pork belly with a Seville orange glaze and green olives, grilled chorizo and peppers and paella packed with prawns, squid, mussels and clams. Overwhelmed by choice? Sit back, sip your sangria and lock in a $55pp or $75pp set menu!
