Brisbane’s best cold brekkies

Let us tell you something – seatbelts are not safe during summer.*

We’re pretty sure we’re still branded from that time our leg brushed the metal one sizzling morning, and don’t even get us started on steering wheels. When it comes to grabbing brekkie during summer, we tend to stray from hotcakes and lean towards cooler dishes, in the hopes that that segue made any sense at all.

It’s hot and we’re delusional, let’s move on.

Kiss the Berry | South Brisbane

If you’ve woken up wondering at what point of the night you went for a swim, head to Kiss The Berry’s new breezy Fish Lane store for some ice-cold acai bowls like the Watermelon Split with banana, the Snykers Delight with raw cacao and peanut butter, and the Post Workout with turmeric and pea protein.

Victoria Park | Herston

The temperature may be slightly too spicy for putt putt at 8am, but you can bet on a refreshing brekkie at the Vic Park Bistro. Their new breakfast menu features a chilled out vegan coconut and chia bircher with seasonal fruit and honey roasted macadamias.

Botanica | Red Hill

Let’s be serious for a hot sec; Botanica is a staple of Brisbane’s food scene, and their salads are known across the city for being the best around. So, it comes as no surprise that their breakfast boxes are insanely good, packed with toasted coconut chia pudding, fruit salad, overnight bircher, coconut yoghurt, Greek yoghurt, and apple and blueberry crumble.

Huskk | Grange

Huskk’s granola smoothie bowls are the full package. Indulge in coconut toasted granola with pepitas, poached rhubarb & Barambah organic yoghurt.

Gunshop Café | West End

With summer comes rain, and a lot of it…  Instead of being caught out in a full downpour, take yourself to the Gunshop Café for a pina colada bircher with caramelised pineapple, coconut cream, and passionfruit pulp.

Nodo | Newstead

Looking for a frozen summer bowl with blended mango, peach kombucha, Kakadu plum, wattle seed crisps, and mango macadamia granola?  You’ll find your very specific craving at Nodo!

Little Loco | New Farm

We’re absolutely loco for Little Loco’s cinnamon and orange bircher with buckwheat and pepita granola, maple syrup, fresh orange, strawberry and kiwi fruit.

Piggy Back Café | Jindalee

These guys are known for their insanely decadent, ever-changing panna cotta, and their current flavour certainly lives up to the hype. Take a shot at the apple crumble panna cotta with cinnamon spiced granola and poached vanilla apple to really get you in the festive mood.

Goodness Gracious | Graceville

Goodness Gracious indeed – this cosy café’s coconut citrus chia (with coconut chia pudding, fresh and dehydrated orange, marmalade caramel, and cacao nibs) will have you falling in love.

Vanilla Ice, Ice, baby.

*Seatbelts are safe no matter the season, always buckle up!
