Where to get your truffle fix in Brisbane this winter

We’ve done the sniffing so you can do the eating.

If you think truffle is hard to come by in Brisbane, think again. We’ve rounded up our favourite truffle dishes in town, and it makes for pretty tasty winter eating…

Black Hide by Gambaro at Treasury Brisbane | CBD

Moderation is not in our vocabulary when it comes to truffles, so when we heard about Black Hide at Treasury Brisbane’s unbelievably decadent five-course truffle degustation we could barely contain our excitement! For the main event, you’ll be sinking your teeth into a 500g MB5+ Wagyu sirloin with celeriac and speck mac and cheese with a healthy portion of truffle butter, of course. Check out the rest of the menu here.

If you prefer to dip your toe into the truffle treatment, every dish on Black Hide’s menu can be complemented with shaved truffles at $8/gram while stocks last, and there’s even a truffle-topped cocktail, the Fun Gui, on the bar menu! Black Hide’s truffle degustation is $199pp, and available until August 31. Head here to learn more and book your spot!

LA LUPA | WEST END

With a menu of authentic Italian eats and a gorgeous fit-out, La Lupa makes for the perfect night out. Particularly when you’re eyeing off their spaghetti topped with 24-month aged truffle pecorino romano and black pepper, or the tartufata pizza with mozzarella, parmesan cream, sausage and truffle tapenade. If you are after something heartier, your go-to has to be the cotechino: slow-cooked pork sausage with lentils, fruit mustard and, of course, truffle!

BOTERO HOUSE | CBD

If you are looking to experience truffles before dinner time, you have to visit Botero House to experience their truffle cappuccino! This luxurious coffee will take you through a variety of flavour profiles ranging from sweet to bitter to salty with umami notes, with a truffle foam and fresh truffles shipped from Tasmania to the cafe on the day of harvesting. Try pairing your morning coffee with a mushroom and truffle omelette or one of the other delectable items on Botero House’s winter truffle menu.

Signature at Emporium Hotel| South Bank

Known for their bougie menu items, Signature is going all out every Wednesday-Saturday dinner from July 1 to August 7, serving up a seven-course menu featuring truffle in every dish! Highlights on the menu include truffled celeriac profiterole with apple compote, roast Wagyu tenderloin with truffled potatoes, winter greens, beetroot, pancetta and truffle jus, and even an elegant delice for dessert with almond, chocolate, fresh truffle and truffle ice cream! Signature’s truffle menu is $140pp, and more info is available here.

MONTRACHET | BOWEN HILLS

You know a restaurant is good when you go just for their bread. That’s certainly the case for us and Montrachet – their freshly baked baguettes come with a side of house-made truffle and honey butter. Indulge in the tasting menu and you will be greeted by the risotto de riz rouge served with Manjimup black winter truffle, pecorino and chestnut mushroom.

OTTO | SOUTH BRISBANE

Truffle lovers, this is not to be missed. OTTO is presenting an extremely luxe five-course truffle degustation as part of Friends of Good Food Month. The menu is set to feature beef carpaccio, Hervey Bay scallops, gnocchi, steak and gelato, all involving truffle in some way. The truffle menu is available throughout July for $255 per person, head here for more information.

LA LUNE WINE CO. | SOUTH BRISBANE

This cosy wine bar sits in chic Fish Lane and rocks a concise menu of European bites, alongside a lengthy wine list. Their ever-changing menu keeps us enticed with exciting flavours. New on the menu for the season is a potato rosti topped with duck parfait and black truffle – we’ll take two, please!

Every day we’re truffling.

Keeping The G&G up to date with tasty tidbits requires a lot of lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally collaborate with local businesses we love. To see how we can help you out and to learn more about our food-crazy audience, head here.
