Brisbane takeaway breakfasts - our top picks

The most important meal of your day, to go.

Isn’t breakfast just the best? While we would all love to gather the squad for long Saturday breaky in our fav local cafe, we’re now living in a takeaway-only times… and it’s actually pretty tasty. Here are just a few of our favourites.

Morning After | West End

It’s the West End spot that always has a line out the door full of hungry locals ready to start their day in delicious fashion. While things have changed slightly for Morning After, i.e. hungry locals are now spaced far apart and grabbing their delicious breakies to go, we can confirm the quality of the fare has not wavered. Better yet, sister cafe across town Yolk is still serving up epic (and hella oozy) rolls and sides!

Botero House | CBD

This tasty city spot has a revamped all-day menu designed exclusively for takeaway, paired a vast drinks list. Start your day with an iced turmeric latte alongside a fresh vegan cold bowl or hearty serving of smoked mushrooms on sourdough, with truffle pesto and halloumi.

Agnes Street Bakery Pop-Up & Bottle Shop | Fortitude Valley

We were excited for MONTHS at the prospect of Agnes – a fresh new restaurant that was set to open in March with a menu of inventive woodfired eats crafted by Ben Williamson – until this global pandemic threw a mad spanner in the works. The team at Agnes were ready to roll until they were told they couldn’t, so they got inventive… and the outcome was delicious. Agnes Street Bakery Pop-Up & Bottle Shop is open from 7am – 5pm, Wednesday through Sunday, selling woodfired artisan breads, savoury treats, and decadent pastries alongside an epic range of booze. Talk about making the best of a bad situation.

Willow & Spoon | Wilston

A charming northside spot, Willow & Spoon boasts a concise takeaway breaky menu with flavours from across the globe like the sweet potato wrap with spinach, onion, peanuts, and Thai green curry mayo, or the Croissant toastie with kimchi and cheese. Stay up to date with their tasty menus here.

King Street Bakery | Bowen Hills

Sometimes, we all just need a damn good pastry. Luckily the team at King Street Bakery are keeping them coming, along with artisan breads, salads, sandwiches, and cafe-style breakies to go.

Billykart | Multiple Locations

Both Billykart Kitchen in Annerley and Billykart West End continue to serve up fresh breakfasts, packing their signature bold flavours into neat take-home packs. Corn fritters with tomato, basil, chilli and guacamole is a must-try, along with the loaded eggs on crispy potatoes, and of course the housemade crumpets with honeycomb butter. Duh.

The Smug Fig | East Brisbane

Open seven days a week and serving up takeaway breaky and coffee, this wholesome southside cafe is one of our go-tos at the moment. We strongly recommend hoeing into a reuben toastie alongside your flat white, or go all out with the pesto scrambled eggs.

There are lots of positive things to take away from this crazy situation. Breakfast is one of them.
