The season will officially begin with the Lord Mayor’s Lighting of the Christmas Tree in King George Square on Friday 28 November, marking the start of a month-long celebration across the city. This year’s event will feature Australian Idol winner and country music star Dylan Wright, along with a dazzling new fireworks finale that promises to light up the Brisbane skyline.
Beloved traditions such as The Enchanted Garden, City Hall Lights, and the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols are set to make a return, continuing to capture the hearts of families across the city. The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will also be broadcast live at Roma Street Parklands, allowing even more to join in the celebration.
Throughout the Christmas period, visitors of Queen Street Mall can look forward to a festive transformation, featuring a Christmas Dreamscape dance performance, a magic & circus show by Queensland performers Rhett Marrow and Jason Gray, and lunchtime carols from the Underground Opera. Meanwhile, the much-loved Sono Lumo will be held at Queen’s Wharf with a nightly light and sound spectacle along the riverside.
Beyond the city proper, over 45 free events will take place across Brisbane’s 33 libraries, alongside more than 50 community celebrations proudly supported by the Schrinner Council.
As Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said, “Brisbane comes alive over the festive season with celebrations that capture the spirit of the season and create so many exciting things for families to see and do.”
