From 10.30am, the Dutton Park State School Oval will come alive with music, dancing, traditional food and family fun, offering a warm welcome to everyone who wants to experience a taste of Serbia.
Hosted by the Serbian Orthodox Community in Woolloongabba, the not-for-profit festival offers free entry and a full day of entertainment. Visitors can enjoy authentic Serbian dishes such as ćevapi, sarma, roast meats, palačinke and pljeskavice, alongside drinks ranging from soft beverages to Serbian Jelen Beer and Rakija.
The main stage will feature high-energy live music, traditional Kolo circle dancing, and captivating performances from Morava Brisbane, Queensland’s largest Serbian folklore ensemble. Other folkloric groups from across the state will also perform throughout the day.
A crowd favourite, the annual Man vs Ćevap eating competition, will return to test the stomachs of those brave enough to enter. For families, there will be a Serbian language workshop, art displays, children’s games, crafts and rides. The marketplace will offer unique products and locally made crafts, perfectly placed near the food stalls for those who like to shop between bites.
The Brisbane Serbian Festival is supported by the Brisbane City Council and Queensland Government, with Platinum Sponsors Style Magazines and Vilic Law.
Getting there is easy, with nearby public transport at Park Road train station and Boggo Road bus station, and plenty of street parking in the surrounding area.
