Best of boujee breakfast spots in Brisbane

We refuse to believe that the great Australian morning ritual is limited to active wear, pups and the ‘burbs, and have taken it upon ourselves to wake up early-ish (11am is early right?) to seek out the shining stars of Brisbane’s breakfast and brunch.

Arm yourself with a knife, fork and some loose-fitting clothes – it’s time to eat your way through the top spots in the city.

MORNING AFTER | WEST END

‘There’s got to be a Morning After, if we can hold on through the night…’ Are we the only ones who remember that song? Yeesh, fortunately, awkward moments, walks of shame, and hangovers can be remedied by this cheeky hangover buster. Think scrumptious truffle and leek croquettes, ricotta and blueberry pancakes, and chilli scrambled eggs with blue swimmer crab.

MILK | ASHGROVE

Next stop, weekend recovery station. Crawl out of bed and into Milk Cafe & Milkbar any day of the week to grab a balmy breakfast in their luscious courtyard. You can feed your soul a much-needed eggs bennie, hash brown, smashed avo and more, keeping in mind that these dishes are anything but basic – we’re talking black forest bacon, bagels and nutella thickshakes. There is a foodie god.

FELIX FOR GOODNESS | CBD

If you’re looking for a cosy little hide away for an early weekday breakfast meeting or just a solo breakfast to soothe the soul, Felix will take good care of you! Not only do they boast a super tantalising menu, their interiors will have you in Instagram heaven. Sip on that golden turmeric latte and gorge on French toast sliders to start the day with some goodness.

CHOUQUETTE | NEW FARM

Definitely naughty but definitely worth it, Chouquette is the place to be if you want a French fix to start your day. Of course they can bake up a mean chouquette, but you’ll also find yourself drooling over danishes (flavour at the whim of the chef), sophisticated almond croissants and strawberry tarts made with Sunshine Coast strawberries.

BREW CAFÉ AND WINE BAR | CBD

Having been open for over a decade now, Brew knows a thing or two about early mornings. Their traditional breakfast offerings are always perfectly executed, like the halloumi bagel or big breakfast, or opt to take the healthy option with their house-made bowls of granola goodness.

PICNIC CAFE | WEST VILLAGE

If you are in need of a hearty meal, Picnic Café’s dishes are easy on the eyes and on your tastebuds. All your favourite breakfast delights will be served up along with more creative dishes like the korokke benedict with Japanese style wagyu and potato croquettes, or the chilli scrambled eggs. It’s time to get out the gingham and get your picnic on!

KING STREET BAKERY | KING STREET

We know, we’ve got another bakery on the list – but you seriously can’t go wrong with a trip to King Street Bakery. Alongside an unbeatable lineup of baked pastries, tarts and cakes in their cabinet, the team is serving up brekky that’ll take anyone’s fancy. From avo on toast to Parisian grilled sandwiches with smoked ham, gruyere and bechamel, they have it all.
