Brewsvegas hits Bris-vegas: Part I

From wicked witches to Bill Murray, this year’s Brewsvegas has everything to satisfy the little brew in you. The grass roots festival celebrating Brisbane’s burgeoning craft beer culture is all about introducing people to the joy of better beer. And oh what a joy that is. From the 21st to the 28th of March, you can experience the wonder that is the pint, with everything from beery baked goods to hop aromatherapy on the line up. With over 100 events in the space of just one week it’d be a mission to do everything but we’re here to help you achieve James Bond status with our top picks. Sunday March 22 The Beer Hunter Hopumentary | Pumpyard | Ipswich | $8.50 If you’re a fan of sitting in bags full of beans (who isn’t?) then get your derrière and a beanbag down to Pumpyard, grab a stout choc top and a beer and enjoy the open air cinema featuring the documentary ‘The Beer Hunter.’ Hip Hops Sunday BBQ | Remy’s | Paddington | $15 The Sunday barbecue has been vastly improved. No need to talk to that great aunt you see once a year because cool uncle Remy hasn’t invited her to his hip-hop BBQ. Ok, it might not be hip but it’s certainly going to be hoppy. So enjoy the hipness of hops while listening to a hoppin’ DJ and digesting a big plate of BBQ. The Bearded Bogan | The Bearded Lady | West End | Free entry If you long for the days when beer was beer and tinnies came out of an esky, The Bearded Lady’s bogan beer party is for you. Just chuck on those stubbies that are a bit too tight and groom your mullet for an epically retro day of canned beers, snags on the barbie and ripper tunes. BYO offensive stubby cooler. Smokin’ Swine | Tippler’s Tap | Newstead | Free entry Get your little piggys down to Tippler’s Tap for pigs on spits and pork in bread rolls. Wash it all down with smokey beers on tap and a few in bottles for an afternoon of porky goodness. brewsvegas 2015 2 Beerkary | Hoo Ha Bar | South Brisbane | Free entry Pair beers from Mt Tamborine and treats from Beerkary and you’ll have one impressive, but satisfying food baby. Monday March 23 Beer battle and the beast | Aquitaine | South Brisbane | $105 It’s the battle of the border – food and booze style. Expect things to get heated – and delicious. Tuesday March 24 Beer Cocktail Competition | Super What Not | CBD | Free entry Always wanted to be able to sip on one of those colourful fruity numbers but didn’t want to betray your manhood?
