Best of St. Lucia

Picnics by the river, learning ancient history, and taking a swing on the green. It’s all in a day’s not-work when visiting St. Lucia.

Between lush walks and golf putts, you’ll be burning up an appetite too, so it’s a good thing Brisbane’s emerging western suburb has you covered.

Patina at Alumni Court | University of Queensland

Utilising the stunning surroundings of its UQ locale, Patina is a brand new restaurant constructed in Alumni Court, with the dining space incorporating the heritage-listed former Radon Laboratory, accented with flairs inspired by its inner-city sister venue at Customs House. Enhancing its sleek design are the distinct flavour-filled offerings of its all day menu, with coconut granola, Fremantle octopus, and Callebaut chocolate souffle covering all your daily meal bases.

Sorelle Eatery | 242 Hawken Drive

Food, wine, coffee, homewares – that’s a recipe to keep us coming back for more. Sorelle Eatery earned its name from being the sister restaurant to Tognini’s over in Milton, and it’s the owners’ very own daughters taking up shop in St Lucia. Say hello to your new go-to serving up, well, almost everything! From all day breakfast to lunch, mains and desserts, you won’t go hungry.

Hundred Acre | Carawa Street

If the lush views of the Golf Link beg you to bask in their glory, the Hundred Acre is waiting for you to sit back and enjoy.  Rustic, homely and local, Hundred Acre offers bar, dining and restaurant options, from their rooftop terrace and event packages to satisfying the most casual of diners.  Playing golf or spectating, your appetite will be the winner with their Peach and goats cheese salad, duck ragu, and mandarin and chilli daiquiri.

John Oxley River Walk | University of Queensland

Brisbane is truly one of Australia’s most picturesque cities, and taking the John Oxley River Walk around the grounds of UQ only furthers that fact. An easy-grade walk that only takes about an hour to trek in its entirety, the Brisbane River serves as a backdrop across mini rainforests, rowing clubs and historical villas. Why not make a real day out of it and bring your own picnic to sit and indulge along the way?

Hillstone | Carawa Street

Golfing with a picturesque gaze, the St. Lucia Golf Links has been expertly designed across over 5000 metres. Whether you’re a seasoned professional, there to have your clubs fitted, enjoying a corporate golf day (as coordinated by the friendly team), or if the golf simulator makes you feel a little more confident than putting on the green, you’ll be well looked after.

Antiquities Museum | University of Queensland

Housing inviting collections and exhibitions all year round, the Antiquities Museum offers visitors an education that doesn’t require enrolling in what is surely Brisbane’s most versatile and appealing college ground. With exhibitions celebrating the endurance of technology, the difference in spotting a counterfeit coin to an authentic one, and the detail of Greek history, you’ll actually want to leave the house to “go to school” every day of the week.

If You Say So Espresso | 88 Gailey Road

If you say so, so do we!  A creation from the minds behind Black Lab Coffee roasters, this espresso bar might be small in stature but it is big on flavour and personality. Coffee is obviously If You Say So’s forte – they also do cold brews and serve Byron Bay sourced chai – but their flaky pastries and dog-friendly atmosphere means even those who don’t “say so” to coffee will still answer a resounding yes when asked to come here.
