For more than 15 years, Bar Alto has been serving up its iconic mussel pots, and now the New Farm riverside restaurant is expanding the celebration with a menu that showcases the very best of the ocean’s soft-shelled treasures. From mussels and clams to scallops and oysters, diners can expect a seafood feast that is uniquely Alto.
The Month of Mollusc menu runs alongside the regular à la carte offering and is available for both lunch and dinner throughout September. The line-up is as decadent as it is diverse:
Appellation oyster, shallot, apple vinegar – $7
Ostrica Calabrese: tempura fried oyster with Calabrian chilli mayonnaise and focaccia crisp – $8
Shark Bay scallop escabeche with stracciatella – $12 each
Mussels Milanese: lemon and Parmigiano crumbed mussels with aioli – $9
Cozze ‘casino’: half-shell Coffin Bay mussels with sourdough pangrattato and guanciale – $24
Mussels, nduja and Vermentino cream with toasted ciabatta – $32
Vongole linguine with aglio olio peperoncino and pangrattato – $44
