For decades, the Bracken Ridge Tavern has been a local favourite for hearty meals, family gatherings, and weekend catch-ups. Now, the much-loved venue is preparing to redefine what suburban hospitality looks like, evolving into a vibrant all-day destination for families, food lovers, and social groups alike.
Stage One of the redevelopment will introduce a completely reimagined experience across the 2145-square-metre venue. Guests can look forward to an inviting new Italian eatery with rustic modern interiors and an open kitchen, a redesigned Panama Jacks steakhouse, and a lively laneway that connects the indoor and outdoor spaces. A beautifully landscaped garden terrace will blend modern sophistication with relaxed comfort, while family-friendly additions such as a kids’ playroom and outdoor grassed areas will sit alongside stylish adult dining and entertainment spaces.
The transformation also includes a complete revamp of the gaming room, bringing a touch of Las Vegas glamour to the northside, with custom joinery, new machines, and a contemporary, elevated atmosphere.
Stage Two, set for completion in 2026, will see the launch of The Captain’s Sports Bar, a new social hub with multiple screens, group seating, and a state-of-the-art function room designed for community celebrations and special occasions.
Owners and publicans Chad and Elisabeth White, who left corporate careers to continue the White family legacy, say the transformation is both a personal milestone and a reinvention of a community cornerstone.
“Bracken Ridge Tavern has always been part of the community’s fabric, but we wanted to create a place that evolves with it,” Chad said.
Elisabeth adds that the vision was to create a destination that fits every moment of the day. “From morning coffee and a quick bite with friends, to long lunches, family dinners, or watching the footy with your mates, we’ve created a space for every occasion under one roof,” she said.
The redevelopment comes at a time when Brisbane’s northside is experiencing a surge in locals seeking elevated dining and entertainment options that still carry a sense of home. “Now is the time to raise the bar,” Chad said. “People want spaces that feel special yet familiar, with great food, great company, and a strong sense of community at the core.”
The transformation has been led by KP Architects, the creative minds behind Queensland icons Eatons Hill Hotel and The Belvedere. Their design blends contemporary style with functionality, ensuring every detail enhances comfort, connection, and atmosphere. Rohrig Constructions has been appointed as the builder for both stages, bringing the ambitious vision to life.
From mid-November 2025, locals will be able to experience the first stage of the Bracken Ridge Tavern’s new dining and entertainment offerings, with the final stage set to be completed by April 2026.
