The weather is well and truly getting spicy, and we need a good dose of milk to soothe the burn. Luckily for us, local cafés are doing away with syrups and producing authentic flavour combos of our dreams, just in time for summer.
We take our drinks shaken, not stirred.
Milk Café | Ashgrove
Baby get shaky after school, before school, or for the lucky(?) ones, work. Ashgrove’s Milk Cafe & Milkbar is whipping out shakes both slim and thiq on the regular, so you can get your fix of butterscotch, frozen custard, choc-coconut, smores and more! Yes, they’re loaded with extra goodies on top.
Gelato Messina | South Brisbane
There’s no going wrong with a trip to Gelato Messina. While their creamy, house-made gelato is nothing to sniff at (unless you want to, it smells delish), you’ve gotta try one of their shakes. Take your pic from one of their many rotating flavours, and a milkshake you shall receive. Enjoy.
Cowch | South Brisbane
Ain’t nothing scary about dairy (lactose intolerance, who?). Cowch is a staple for Brissie desserts, and their milkshakes are no exception. Serving “2-4 people” (unrealistic, but okay), these super shakes are made with everything from chocolate ganache and Belgian waffles to strawberry coulis with fairy floss.
Miss Kay’s | Various
Miss Kay’s may be the burger queens, but their milkshakes are just as amazing. Mmmkay? We’re talking chocolate milkshakes topped with brownies, salted caramel milkshakes topped with popcorn, and peanut butter milkshakes topped with Reece’s peanut butter cups. There’s no such thing as too much.
Little Loco | New Farm
We’re livin’ la vida Loco with these irresistible milkshakes. Whether you’re about the Oreo shake, or the Mint Slice shake, you’ll be sipping up a storm once you get your hands around one of these bad boys. Warning: you may feel inclined to take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain once you’re done.
