When you’re out and about in the ‘burbs of Brisbane, it’s not hard to find a cute and cozy café. Morning grumbles from the belly are never an issue because statistically speaking, you’re never far from an eggs benny. Never fear, because some of Brisbane’s best creators of brekky, lunch and all day brunch in the ‘burbs have read our minds and have made the delectable decision to keep their doors open well into the evening.
Plum Tucker | Red Hill
Whether you just want a lean and green health bowl after a post-work gym session or you’ve got a hankering for a cheeseburger with a side of crispy chips, Plum Tucker has what you need, from Thursday to Saturday. Take a seat in their breezy outdoor dining area (or bring a few friends and make use of their private dining room) and order a few courses of good, honest fare – with an espresso martini on the side, of course.
Todd & Pup | Tarragindi
Whether you’re looking for something deep-fried or are keen for quinoa, Todd & Pup and their brand new home will have your Friday nights sorted. From their fried chilli crab crakes and sticky bourbon beef ribs to their crispy quinoa burger and pan fried market fish, there’s plenty on the menu to tempt you away from the drawer full of takeaway menus.
Gauge | South Brisbane
If you thought Gauge’s daytime menu was wild and wonderful, wait until you see their new evening eats. Keeping to their adventurous style, there’s things on the menu even we’ve never heard of before. Seablite? Bottarga? Sesame milk? Whatever it all is, it’s delicious, even if you do stick to the more familiar slow roasted duck with beetroot and strawberries.
That Little Place | Mt Gravatt
Australian made wines, locally brewed beers, creamy cheese plates and live music – what more could you want on a Friday or Saturday night? All that close to home of course! That Little Place will even let you BYO dinner, with pizza and fish and chips right next door.

The cute and cozy little café you used to go to for a pot of tea has turned into one of the funkiest places to be seen in Graceville. High tea by day turns into BYO dining and scrumptious burgers on Friday nights, with BYO burgers and house made waffles for dessert.
Bare Bones Society | Jindalee
Every Friday night, the chefs at Bare Bones Society get a little crazy in the kitchen and whip up an epic themed dinner, with a different menu every fortnight. So good they book out every week, each dinner is better than the last, with a delish line up of entrees, mains and irresistible desserts to choose from.
Chapter IV | Paddington
BYO dining and breathtaking views to bring life to your Wednesday to Sunday nights? What a novel idea! With a fabulously fun kids’ play area and menu to match, this quirky café is perfect for anything from family feasts to first dates. And with no less than 14 burgers on the menu, plus pasta, salads and sides, there’s something for every taste.
Paddington Deli | Paddington
Take a table out on the terrace in front of Paddington Deli, get a plate of cheese and charcuterie in front of you and a rosé in your hand and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a village in the south of France. They’re open for dinner Thursday to Saturday, so if you don’t leave enough room for a whisky chocolate mousse the first time, you can just come back the next night for dessert.
You may as well just toss those takeaway menus in the trash now!
