Is this Brisbane’s best rooftop bar?

Fact: Cocktails taste better at high altitude. Actually, everything tastes better at high altitude. We have no scientific proof for this, but we’re willing to put our figures on the line to test it – especially if we can do the ‘research’ at one of the best rooftop bars Brisbane has to offer: Eleven. It’s hard to believe this glam rooftop spot perched high above the Valley has only been shaking up cocktails for just under 12 months – they’re already ‘the’ place to be seen on a weekend. But uber creative cocktails and scrumptious bar nibbles aren’t all they have to offer, and with their first birthday celebrations coming up, they’re shaking up the dining scene too, with a new lunch and dinner menu to sample. You might not think winter would be the time to get sky high for a meal, but Eleven begs to disagree, with plenty of warm heaters scattered around their rooftop for the cooler months. So you don’t have to worry about trying to find a jacket that keeps you warm without making you look like an abominable snowman. Eleven has a dress code to meet after all, even if it is only smart casual Sunday to Thursday (you’ll need dress shoes and a collared shirt or suit jacket Friday and Saturday when the nightlife heats up and the DJs hit the rooftop). rooftop bar brisbane 2Suitably attired, you can head up the elevator for lunch or dinner (or even an early morning business coffee Tuesday to Friday), and try to tear your eyes from the jaw-dropping views long enough to order a bite to eat. If you’ve brought a few friends, order plates and plates of their scrumptious tapas, with the likes of crisp fish tacos, soft shell crab and pulled pork and chorizo arancini to nibble on, or bigger dishes like chermoula spiced lamb. But if you’re not one for sharing, you might prefer a plate of twice cooked pork belly with roast garlic mash or seafood linguine in a chilli and basil sauce all to yourself. Drinks with a view is what Instagram was made for (not yoga poses and skinny teas as you’ve been led to believe), and you’ll find plenty of opportunities for hashtag worthy shots here. We’re talking about the cocktails as much as we are the city skyline obviously – sips like their vanilla vodka, white chocolate, Lillet Blanc and citrus 21st Century, or the Rhubarb Limonata with vodka, Aperol, Amaro Montenegro, citrus and rhubarb bitters are worth a snap all on their own. rooftop bar brisbane 3Best of all, you can enjoy all the food and booze (and the views) from your own private booth! Any day of the week, you can book a cosy private table for up to 2 hours, with table service and plenty of room for up to 18 guests. Book for 4 hours and you’ll have to meet a minimum spend – but with all those cocktails to sip your way through, why wouldn’t you? If you’ve got more than 18 people to celebrate with, just check out their functions packages to find out about their bigger, even more sophisticated event spaces. Ready to find out for yourself if Eleven has rightfully earned itself the title of the best rooftop bar in Brisbane? Then put on your aviators and make your way to Level 11 of 757 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley. They’re open Tuesday to Sunday from midday until late.
