Quirky cafes and top-notch restaurants just keep popping up all over the ‘burb – and they’re blowing the competition out of the water!
Seven South
Don’t you love when the name of your dining destination doubles as Uber directions? Head 7 kms south of the CBD and you’ll hit Seven South, a bright and airy café across from Hyde Road Park. Mornings are virtually painless with their brioche French toast with lemon curd and freshly squeezed juices, and we can’t complain when presented with their chocolate orange porridge.
Little Clive
There’s nothing little about Little Clive’s scrumptious breakfasts and weekend dinners – except maybe how much space you’ll have left in your tummy afterwards. From their monthly waffle specials and pina colada pancakes to decadent mac ‘n’ cheese beef burgers and everything sweet in between, they’ll have you stopping by more often than you probably should.
Billy Kart Kitchen
Serving up spades of sophisticated dishes from chef Ben O’Donoghue for breakfast and weekly Friday dinners, Billy Kart takes locally sourced ingredients, adds a dash of international inspiration, and whips out creative feeds like baked eggs with pork scratchings, sweet pork, black pudding and green sauce. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’ve been missing out for a long time.
Cafe O-Mai
Spring rolls and dim sims and pho, oh my! Fresh and flavoursome Vietnamese food isn’t just for a fast lunch, with Café O-Mai keeping us fed full of pho from a game-changing 7am. No, we’re not kidding – you can get pho for breakfast. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of more traditional breakfasts, from corn and zucchini fritters to their take on a big breakfast.
Pizzeria 1760
Slice your commute in half by grabbing your pizza from Pizzeria 1760’s convenient little shop. With the whole menu available to take away (hello, Netflix sesh) and the venue encouraging BYO wine and beer, we totally won’t judge you for eating pizza four or five times a week. Unless it’s the Nutella dessert pizza. Then we’ll join you.
Station 82
If we’re being totally honest, we’re probably never going to see the normal end of 5.30am, but for those morning people out there (please share your secret), Station 82’s got your back. Coffee, poached eggs, jaffles, and mason jar milkshakes? Yeah, we’re sold.
We’ll see you on the south side.
