Where to spend Valentine’s Day on the Gold Coast

Well it’s that time of year again. There is not only an unspeakable amount of humidity and heat in the air, there is also a disgusting amount of love (just kidding, we promise we aren’t cynical!). On the food front, V Day on the Coast is providing the goods with a myriad of delectable menus from all our favourite restaurants, for you and your lover to enjoy. As you will see we have covered all the bases, so all you need to do is call up wherever on our list tickles your fancy before all reservations are exhausted! For those singletons seeking companionship and looking to leave their room instead of ordering takeaway, eating unspeakable amounts of chocolate whilst sitting in bed watching rom-coms on the telly (which will likely ironically be Valentine’s Day), there are a couple of options for you too!

For the couples

The Collective Palm Beach | Palm Beach
Okay, we’re not biased but what the Collective has in store this V-day is definitely next level. They’re putting on their very first degustation dinner and will be serving a ten (yes, TEN!) course meal, with each course served with a signature Collective cocktail, wine or beer. If the words oysters, sashimi, sliders and Nutella tickle your fancy, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn these are a sample of what the five kitchens will be dishing up! It’s $129 per person but can you really put a price on the ability to order from five restaurants at once? We think not.
Bazaar Marketplace at QT Hotel | Surfers Paradise
Come 6pm, Bazaar will turn up the heat for a night to remember. They promise a night choc-a-bloc with romance offering a buffet of fresh-off-the-trawler seafood, mouth-watering roast meats, salads plucked fresh from QT’s own kitchen garden and an amazing spread of sweet treats to end the night. For $85 per person, you will have access to the whole lip-smacking buffet with a complimentary glass of Charles Pelletier sparkling wine on arrival, as well as a Valentine’s Day gift, so they’ve got the gift AND the meal covered!
Yamagen Japanese Restaurant | Surfers Paradise
Offering a more theatrical approach to stimulate those feelings of romance, Valentine’s Dinner at Yamagen is sure to impress. Their set menu combines a winning combination of Oriental flavours bound to leave you feeling satisfied, with grilled local seafood, juicy, grass-fed beef fillet, teppan fried rice, mixed green salad, miso soup and Yamagen’s extraordinary mini green tea panacotta served with watermelon sorbet and chocolate sake (yum!) for $72 per person.
Little Truffle Dining Room & Bar | Mermaid Beach
Little Truffle has a reputation for attracting lovers from all over the Coast at all times of the year, so it’s a shoo-in for V Day, with a four course degustation dinner full of romance available from 5.30pm. Reservation slots are two hours when arriving between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, however if you want to stretch out your evening, book after 8pm for unlimited dining time. At $90 per person, you just have to look up their menu to be convinced, so book in quick if European cuisine is at top of your list!
Citrique | Surfers Paradise
This popular seafood restaurant promises entertainment that will ‘serenade’ and we all know when the word serenade is used, romance levels will be off the charts. Talented accordion player Bob will be in full swing all night long while you enjoy a champers on arrival followed by an intimate dinner. Their buffet will provide an array of delicious savoury treats and to finish, there will be a live (!) dessert station. $95 per person is all it will cost for this evening of decadence.
Ristorante Fellini | Main Beach
Boasting a proposal tally of over 300, dinner at romance mecca Ristorante Fellini may literally change your life. Not gonna lie, we bet their tally will rise this year with a sumptuous seven course degustation on offer! It all starts with a glass of Prosecco and house made crusty bread, and ends with a mouth-watering honey and mascarpone cheesecake with all the trimmings, for $130pp.

For the singles

Swipe Right Party | Komune Resort | Coolangatta
Come 5pm on February 11, Komune will be transformed into a Tinder lover’s paradise. Promising life-size tinder photo booths, special cocktails and DJ’s Just Sayin + DJ Flo playing everything from Beyoncé to Whitney Houston, this might be your night to change that relationship status.
Anti-Valentine’s Party | Stingray Lounge at QT Hotel | Surfers Paradise
If the “V” word is enough to trigger your gag reflex, then Stingray is the place for you come Valentine’s Eve! Join fellow cynics (and hopeful romantics) for $3 tacos (is this real life?), a live DJ and a pumping Anti-Valentine’s celebration! What’s more, if you book a group of 10 or more guests, you’ll receive your first drink for free. Love is in the air! Words by Charlotte Tully
