The Lamb Shop hits King Street

While there’s always going to be a place in our hearts for a good 2am kebab, we’ve kind of moved on from that part of our lives – and replaced with a dish that’s just as good during waking hours as it is after a few tequilas. We’re talking, of course, about drool-worthy souvlaki, packed with slow cooked lamb and handcut chips – and now Brisbane has a delish new place to get it! After years of wrapping up days on the beach in Broadbeach with a stop at The Lamb Shop, this spot’s dedication to fixing appetites for those on the lamb (and, more importantly, craving lamb) has now moved to Bowen Hills’ King Street, a popular lunchtime haven for the corporate crowd. Plating up fast food without the usual sacri-fries in taste, it’s no wonder that the juicy serves of spit-roasted lamb and chicken have already earned a cult following. The most popular order? A revamp of the traditional souvlaki, featuring pita bread crammed with juicy cuts of meat, mustard mayo, and chips. Yep, that’s right – they’re doubling up on the carbs, and we’ve never seen anything more beautiful. Well, unless we order more, which at The Lamb Shop, is a serious possibility. Tantalising enough to stand on their own, the chips here are hand cut, cooked ‘til crispy, seasoned with garlic oil, and then smothered in crumbly feta. And if that doesn’t have you drooling on your screen (PSA: it’s not covered under warranty, we’d know), their mammoth share plate of a whole slow roasted lamb shoulder is bound to do the trick. With bar snacks like their charred, buttered corn coated in shaved cheese, and flash-fried Southern calamari, The Lamb Shop plants itself firmly as more than just a lunch spot. The bar’s crisp pale ales and list of wines will have you watching the clock for a chance to end the day over these plates, drinks, and – let’s face it – plenty of lamb. It’s official: we’re wrapping up our love affair with burgers and following the herds heading here. You’ll find The Lamb Shop at 20 King St, Bowen Hills – ewe can thank us later.
