Suburban Foodies: Teneriffe

Walking through Teneriffe can be intimidating. If the well-groomed locals in their active wear don’t look down on you, the beefy cross fit junkies racing down Commercial Road definitely will.

We understand that no matter who, or where, you are – you’ve still gotta eat, so this is our guide to our favourite judgement free Teneriffe spots.

GREEN BEACON BREWING | 26 Helen St

A beacon of hope amongst the cross fit (literally, it’s sandwiched in between two gyms) is local craft brewery Green Beacon. With rotating food trucks, platters of fresh Queensland seafood and of course, beer, it’s no wonder this is one of our favourite spots. The team have taken the best of their favourite cities and brought them together in the shed. With an emphasis on kicking it local, stop by for seasonal beers like the Whaler Blood Orange IPA or try a Three Bolt Pale Ale out of their core range.

CUTTY SARK | 70/39 Vernon Tce

Here to ship you away from the hustle and bustle of the city and into a sophisticated dining experience is Cutty Sark. Enjoy plates of tapas including Australian octopus, jamon imberico, cheeses and croquettes alongside black angus eye fillet and chargrilled lamb with a sea view. Pair with their list of Australian and Spanish wines for a lazy seafood lunch or dinner.

WILDE KITCHEN | Cnr Macquarie & Florence St

It wouldn’t be a visit to the health hub of Brisbane without tucking into something paleo. For a walk on the wilde side, stop by Wilde Kitchen for 100% gluten free, unprocessed, locally sourced food. Choose from collagen coconut panna cotta with lemon and fresh honey comb, broth bowls and nourishing green bowls. The wheat-free heroes also carry their own range of takeaway meals, so being lazy is no excuse.

SOURCED GROCER | 11 Florence St

If you haven’t seen this local café/grocer plastered all over your Instagram feed you’ve clearly been living under a rock or you’re not following us which, TBH, rude. Housed in a converted warehouse it could be something straight out of Brooklyn neighbourhood. With a menu that includes some of the best goddamn crumpets in Brisbane and shelves upon shelves of seasonal produce and gourmet small goods. Grab a latte and a loaf of artisanal sourdough, you just need a Frenchie and you are Teneriffe incarnate.

DALGETY PUBLIC HOUSE | 6/110 Macquarie St

If there is one thing Teneriffe could never be accused of – it’s being antisocial, and it’s downright impossible at Dalgety Public House. One of Brisbane’s newest gastropubs has swung open its doors and offers up hearty pub fare in a chic, modern space. Pick from one of their 26 beers or try one of their signature cocktails. Salted caramel espresso martini anyone?

BOTANICA REAL FOOD | 29 Doggett St

Red Hill’s favourite salad spot has set up shop in Teneriffe! With an emphasis on fresh, seasonal, sustainable (BUZZ WORDS) produce in the form of vibrant salads and sweet treats. Before you come at us with accusations of an inability to ‘make friends with salad’ – we’ll stop you right there pal. These salads are the holy grail of salads, these salads would make the most hardened carnivore sweat off steak forever. These salads are goals.

GREENHAUS | Cnr Doggett & Chester St

From the same team as Botanica, Greenhaus brings the same ethos of quality ingredients and expert execution – in caffeinated form. Serving up Allpress espresso, sweet treats and fare like breakfast parfaits, tahini and blistered tomato tartines and mini brioche toasties, Greenhaus is the perfect place to stop in before your stroll along the brown snake.

COPADO | 10/110 Macquarie St

Gourmet jaffles, wine and charcuterie platters. We can probably just finish up here because what else do you actually need? Create your own platters from a selection of meats, tinned seafood and cheeses or choose from their signature boards. With a list of local and European wines as big as our appetites, you won’t make any pour decisions at Copado.

Whether you’re fitspo, fakespo, or just feel like a cheeky beer – Teneriffe is waiting.
