We suggest taking it up with the guys at Good Chat Comedy Club by Fritzenberger, who are coming after the G&G’s job of producing one terrible foodie pun at a time (don’t lie, though – you know you love them). Join them on Wednesday from 6:30pm for chaotic comedy stand-up routines that bound to split a few sides…oh, and plenty of beer to go around.

For a no-holds-barred approach to comedy, look no further than Barbara for a barrel of laughs. This spiffy chick bottles up all her one-liners until the one day every month she gets to spill them out through a round of stand-up routines and tequila shots. As authentic as the Paddo Parmy and as Queensland as Milton Mangos, the Sit Down Comedy club is a Brisbane institution. The OG laugh factory, it’s known as the comedy nursery of Brisbane, and there’s little reason why with local kids cutting their teeth (and letting their pride take a battering), and famous acts including Carl Barron, Hannibal Buress and Stephen K Amos taking centre stage. We’re there faster than you can say ‘hot chips.’

The home of the Brisbane Comedy Festival – it’s no wonder this is one venue we frequent on a Friday. Each week, a variety of local and international comedians put their talents (and dignity) on the line for our amusement (dance, monkey, dance!) with hilarious results. Is this what Lizzy McGuire meant when she sang, ‘this is what memes are made of’? Blute’s weekly comedy nights is chocka-block with a line-up of Brisbane’s best funny guys – and not a single pity laugh in sight! This gig of gigs takes place every Thursday from 7:30pm.

When it comes to both food and comedy, we love to put a fork in it – that’s probably why Big Fork Theatre always pulls a gaggle of giggles from us. Head to their comedy show every Friday from 7pm, where their crack team of comedians will have you cracking your composure with just one soundbite of their funny lines.

You know Heya Bar for killer karaage, cheeseburger spring rolls (we will literally RIOT if these ever get taken off the menu – take note), and ice-cold bevvies, but they’ve got something just as tasty in store for us.
