Brisbane’s Biggest Night is Back: Get Ready for Riverfire 2025!

If there’s one night Brisbane truly comes alive, it’s this one. Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust is blasting back into the sky on Saturday 6 September and it’s set to be bigger, brighter and bolder than ever before.

This is not just a fireworks show. It’s the ultimate celebration of our beautiful city, the official launch of Brisbane Festival, and a jaw-dropping night you absolutely don’t want to miss.

This year, Brisbane is making history. For the first time in Queensland, pyrotechnic drones will take to the skies, launching nearly 600 explosive effects and forming mind-blowing shapes right above our heads. These special drones are a first for Riverfire and are about to change the game – blending cutting-edge tech with all the sparkle and sizzle we love.

From 5 barges on the river, 7 rooftops, 2 bridges and now 3 drones, this year’s display is nothing short of epic. We’re talking about more fireworks than ever before, choreographed to a wild, joyful soundtrack created by composer Guy Webster, and broadcast live on Triple M. Picture an explosion of colour and sound, inspired by the vibrant “Walk This Way” artwork by Craig & Karl – it’s going to be a full sensory feast.

But before the fireworks light up the night, look up. The Australian Defence Force will put on a spectacular aerial display with C-17 Globemasters, F/A-18s, helicopters and more slicing through the sky in perfect formation. Then, settle in for a beautiful performance by First Nations artists Tribal Experiences, blending traditional song and dance with powerful storytelling.

Expect the city to be buzzing. Riverfront venues will be packed, hotel rooms will be filled, and Brisbane’s streets will be alive with energy. Whether you’re watching from a rooftop bar, a park, or your favourite riverside spot, this is a night to be shared with your people. And yes, your mate Artie – the official Riverfire mascot and superfan – has already scouted out the best vantage points. You can grab the full map on the Brisbane Festival website.

Want the VIP treatment? The Landing at Queen’s Wharf is offering a limited number of tickets for reserved riverside seats, with access to a licensed bar and the kind of views you’ll never forget.

Since 1998, Riverfire has been one of the most loved nights on the Queensland calendar. It became the official opener of Brisbane Festival in 2009, and every year it draws over half a million people to the banks of the Brisbane River. That’s 500,000 people all gazing up at the sky, feeling the same magic at the same time. It doesn’t get more Brisbane than that.

So mark your calendar, make your plans, and get ready to feel the boom. Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust is here to launch three weeks of unforgettable arts, culture, music and performance across the city.

This is Brisbane at its boldest. Let’s light it up.
