After opening its doors in March as a pop-up patisserie, Mica is now a fully-fledged brasserie, and we can’t get enough of their morning treats!
The next venture for the team that brought us Montrachet and King Street Bakery, Mica sits pretty in the Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Centre in Newstead, operating as a patisserie seven days a week and for breakfast Wednesday through Sunday.
Mica elevates breakfast to another level, taking something we all know and love and adding breakfast cocktails, modern French flavours, and a luxe tasting menu!
For $55 per person your table can enjoy a tasting menu, comprised of five tasty courses, freshly-squeezed juices, tea and coffee. The menu kicks off with a wattle seed granola with sheep’s milk yoghurt, compressed local strawberries and mint, before a macadamia nut crumble with caramelised pineapple, kaffir lime and coconut water sorbet.
Next up is the savoury offerings, which includes a pastis and citrus cured Ora king salmon with dill, olive oil and fromage blanc, served with a fresh fennel, potato and sumac sourdough straight from the oven. Take your pick of a classic French omelette (gruyere and Swiss brown mushroom) or opt for the Like eggs Benedict, but better–red gum-smoked pork jowl with an English-style muffin, poached free-range egg, and a chardonnay vinegar hollandaise.
Of course, the breakfast tasting menu finishes with a basket of freshly baked pastries with housemade raspberry jam–which you will most definitely find room for!
If you were lucky enough not to be designated driver, feel free to get acquainted with a Bloody Mary on vodka, gin or tequila, and play French roulette with Mica’s seasonal bellinis.
Head to their website to book your table, and prepare to not eat for the rest of the day…
Keeping The G&G up to date with tasty tidbits requires a lot of lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally collaborate with local businesses we love, like this one.
