Brisbane’s best date night spots

We all know the correct way to the heart…

Whether it’s your first date (thnx Tinder) or you’re finally getting a night away from the kids (thnx babysitters), we have rounded up the most romantic spots for a date night in beautiful Brisbane!

Gourmet
DONNA CHANG | CBD

Oozing opulence, Donna Chang is the modern Chinese spot that luxe date night dreams are made of, situated in a striking heritage-listed building that was made for a special occasion! The Chinese roast duck with plum sauce is a must-have.

MAEVE | SOUTH BRISBANE

A stroll along Fish Lane is the perfect way to start or end a romantic evening, especially when it involves a visit to Maeve Wine Bar. This European-style spot has it all, from the mood lighting to the gourmet bites, and a wine list to behold.

BLACKBIRD BAR AND GRILL | CBD

To impress the person of your dreams, we strongly suggest a visit to Blackbird. Once you’ve taken your seat looking over the river, you can wine and dine your date with the highest quality seafood, steaks, and wines. Our picks are the buttered banana prawns and Wagyu hanger steak paired with a punchy shiraz, and, of course, cheese to finish.

BAR ALTO | NEW FARM

Cocktails by the water, anyone? This modern Italian joint is known across town as a perfect spot for long lunches with the girls, family dinners, and a pretty dang romantic date spot! While you flex your muscles for your hot date, Bar Alto will flex its mussels, which happen to be served with chilli, garlic, tomato, and grilled ciabatta—saucy.

BYBLOS | HAMILTON

They say location is everything. Byblos has that box well and truly ticked, but it’s the traditional Lebanese eats that have us falling in love! Stare longingly into your date’s eyes over a platter for two, which comes complete with hummus, tabbouleh, and your choice of rekakat, fatayer, lahim bil ajeen, chicken sambousek, shish tawook or kafta meshwi—now that is our love language.

MOSCONI | FORTITUDE VALLEY

Italian food is a date night classic, and this James St hotspot is waiting for you. You and your SO can go full Lady and the Tramp with Moreton Bay bug pappardelle, tomato sugo, chilli and bronze fennel, before a rich dessert of Valrhona chocolate hazelnut tart with warm chocolate sauce. How sweet it is.

Gourmand
ONE FISH TWO FISH | KANGAROO POINT

Fish ‘n’ chips, but make it fancy. You’re not the only perfect catch at this spot, with a menu of fresh, local seafood, sides, and desserts on offer, alongside an epic drinks list! Oh, and if your date doesn’t appreciate the 80s music that is permanently blasting, they ain’t the one.

CHU THE PHAT | SOUTH BRISBANE

We have four words for you Brisbane. Duck buns and chill.

This vibrant pan-Asian spot is always buzzing and boasts a menu of modern, punchy flavours. You know it’s been a great date when the only hard part was picking a cocktail from the bangin’ list…

NEESH BAR | EAST BRISBANE

Sometimes, all you need is a damn good pizza. For those who love a casual date, Neesh’s breaky, lunch and dinner offerings hit the mark whether it’s a first date, fifth date, or just-get-us-out-of-the-house date! Plus, Neesh has a ridiculously good value deal for seven share plates that is totally worth trying (and removes the awkward, “So, what are you having?” conversation).

KETTLE AND TIN | PADDINGTON

This laid-back bar and eatery has you covered from breaky through to dinner and dranks. Grab a bucket of kettle-fried chicken and a couple of tinnies and watch the world go by. Or, if you’re a single pringle, who needs men when there’s Kettle and Tin’s deep-fried pickles with bacon mayo?

PROOF BBQ AND BOOZE | WINDSOR

When two carnivores lock eyes over a pound of brisket, you know it’s true love. This American-style eatery has all the meat you could ever want, next to an epic range of whiskeys and other spirits. If you’re not ordering those burnt ends as a starter, what are you doing with your life?

PAWPAW | EAST BRISBANE

Breaky date? Perfect. Romantic Thai dinner? Amazing!

Pawpaw truly has it all, offering Insta-worthy breakfasts every morning, alongside elegant Thai offerings for dinner Wednesday to Sunday. We recommend the pineapple fried rice at flagship Pawpaw, spicy pork belly at sister spot Pawpaw Asian Kitchen, and green curry at the award winning Mons Thai.
