While some specialise in retailing perfect pasta for you to pretend you made yourself, many Brisbane eateries are also offering a range of tasty takeaway options and take-home treats like frozen meals and Italian staples as they work on gradually reopening the doors post-lockdown.
Because we are absolute Italian food fiends (duh), we’ve rounded up our favourite fresh pasta from Italian spots around town.
Il Gancio
They’re back, baby! Newly reopened for dine-in and takeaway, Il Gancio is also boasting an epic pop-up inside Toombul Shopping Centre, downstairs from the venue.
Swing by and you can expect the freshest handmade pasta, Italian deli meats, house-made sauces, and service with a smile. It’s the Italian way!
Ripiena
The range of fresh pasta and sugo at Ripiena is nothing short of impressive. Offering a huge variety of different pasta styles in 100g, 500g and 1kg serves, you can pick up anything from spaghetti to trenette, and anellini to cavatelli.
While you’re browsing their range (and Googling what some of the styles are), we strongly recommend picking up a tub of their Bolognese sauce—made with the traditional recipe registered at the Chamber of Commerce of Bologna, Italy. Gee whiz.
CJs Pasta
While we desperately wish we could be propped up a table at CJs sipping on a glass of red and digging into a massive bowl of the good stuff, this will have to do for now. Cooking for ourselves is made easier (and far tastier) with the help of CJ’s retail range, with fresh pastas, gnocchi and ravioli available to prepare at home, as well as a range of microwavable “meal pouches” and ready-made family-sized lasagna, cannelloni, and more.
The Pasta Company
The OGs of fresh pasta, The Pasta Company is a factory outlet based in Kelvin Grove that not only supplies the goods to some of Australia’s best eateries, but also offers world-class pasta to the hungry public. The Pasta Company stocks a range of freshly-cut pasta, pizza bases, gnocchi, lasagne sheets and sauces, as well as a range of frozen filled pasta and ready-made meals. Your kitchen just became the hottest restaurant in town.
One Fish Two Fish
Whilst not strictly an Italian restaurant, One Fish Two Fish has decided to provide pantry staples during this time, with a rotating range of freshly made pasta, sugo, oils, and more, available in store.
Warning: you’ll go to pick up your takeaway cod and chips, and leave with an armful of gourmet handmade pantry staples. Just admit it… Your self-control left a long time ago.
All that’s left to do is boil the water!
