Where to celebrate Oktoberfest in Brisbane

Beer, lederhosen, and plenty of wieners–it must be Oktoberfest!

October is the magical month at the end of the year when it’s appropriate to don dress-ups twice (thank you, Halloween), drink from steins bigger than your head, and eat as many pretzels and bratwursts as possible all in the name of Oktoberfest.

While things are a little dialled down this year, we still encourage you to dust off your dirndl and starch your long white socks, because we’ve rounded up the best places to get German with it this Oktober.

CLOUDLAND | FORTITUDE VALLEY

The all-new Rose Room at Cloudland has been transformed into a Beer Hall, ready for one heck of an Oktoberfest event.

Work your way through the range of German biers on tap, schnapps, and cocktails, as you enjoy the Bavarian feast served to your table. We’re talking authentic wurst, sliders, schnitzels, breads, sauerkraut, and more pork than you can shake your knuckles at!

Rock your stein to the live oompah band, smash your way through the pretzel eating competition, and see if you can take home top prize for best dressed!

With two sessions on Saturday, October 31 between 11 am and 3 pm, or 5 pm and 9 pm, this is one that can’t be missed–so grab your tickets here. Gold Coast pals, be sure to check out the event at The Island, Surfers Paradise, on the weekend before!

OSBOURNE HOTEL | FORTITUDE VALLEY

It’s OStoberfest time, you guys!

On Saturday, October 10 from 11.30 am, the Osbourne Hotel is holding an event full of beer, pretzels, and ALL the German tings. Taking over the Biergarten all day and into the night, OStoberfest will feature traditional German music, German bier served in whopping steins, and the kitchen serving up German classics like veal schnitzels, bratwurst, sauerkraut, and more. Call 3252 9833 or head here to book your spot!

SEALEGS BREWING CO | KANGAROO POINT

Getting the ball rolling nice and early this year, Sealegs Brewing Co is running some exciting Oktoberfest specials until Sunday, September 27. Enjoy beers (duh!), schnitzels, pretzels, and other German treats, as the staff look after you dressed to the neins in their German ‘fits.

With two new beers specially brewed for the occasion and available by the litre stein, we have a feeling we might be sea-legless after this one…

FRITZENBERGER | VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Available for four days at all four Fritzenberger locations, hoe into three German-inspired FritzenBeers, and one special FriztenBrat!

Think a hotdog bun piled high with a bratwurst, kraut, mustard and pretzel salt, washed down with your choice of hefeweisen (wheat ale), schwarzbier (malty lager) or the Munchen lager. Pop by your local Fritzenberger between October 1 and 4 to get amongst it.

BRISBANE GERMAN CLUB | EAST BRISBANE

The iconic Brisbane German Club will have its doors firmly open for Oktoberfest celebrations, with dozens and dozens of German bier on tap, a menu of traditional eats, and THAT famous pork knuckle.

THE BAVARIAN | VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Giving Brisbanites a taste of Germany at locations across the city, we love this spot for its perfectly golden schnitties, burgers, and crispy pork bellies.

Until October 31, enjoy The Bavarian’s Oktoberfest set menu, complete with a haus-made pretzel, signature tasting platter of pork belly and knuckle, sausages, schnitzel and sides, and a delectable apple strudel just for $39 per person!

BRAT HAUS | VARIOUS LOCATIONS

When they’re not out in the van slinging snags at markets and events across Brisbane, the Brat Haus team are serving up take-home packs of their signature dogs. Head to their online store and stock up on wursts, buns, sauces, krauts, and do the German thang from home.

October is looking pretty nice! So THIS is why Billie Joe Armstrong asked us to wake him up when September ends…

Keeping The G&G up to date with tasty tidbits requires a lot of lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally collaborate with local businesses we love, like this one. To learn more about our food-crazy audience and how we can help you out, head here.
