Suburban foodies: Samford

Before you head to this beautifully grand hinterland boasting everything from quaint antique shops to the awe-inspiring Cedar Creek Falls, make sure to plan out where you’ll be refuelling in style.

From favourite restaurants to chilled cafes, stop by our list of Samford foodie favourites!

Pause

Hold up – here’s some food for thought that’ll give you pause. Dine on Mediterranean delights amongst an ocean of trees at Pause, Samford’s gorgeous sanctuary-come-restaurant that encourages guests to take things slow. Specifically, their slow-cooked almond milk pork cheek served with divine polenta taragna and parsnips.

The Flying Nun

Before you climb Mt Glorious, discover The Flying Nun’s ruby dragonfruit sorbet! Topped with summer fruit salad, shaved chocolate and flaked coconuts, a peep through The Flying Nun’s stained-glass windows (did we mention this café is a restored church?) will reveal a whole host of breakfast desserts such as vanilla bean panna cotta, buttermilk pancakes, and strawberries and cream waffles.

Yaya Bar

Say heya to Yaya, the bar boasting tapas and taps to be enjoyed in a retro dining setting. Think smokey chipotle steak tacos and grilled prawns with guac tostadas paired perfectly with authentic Mexican cervezas or Wrong Side Brewing beers.

Canter & Colt

Before you run to the hinterlands, enjoy some banter and halt at Canter & Colt, Samford’s answer to your local comfy coffee shop. If long blacks and flat whites aren’t your thing, then pull a leaf out of their extensive tea menu and enjoy a luscious lemon herbal or chai alongside their signature organic banana bread topped with sliced banana, coconut, walnuts, and rice malt syrup.

Café Largarto

One that’ll have the ankle-biters biting into creamy vegan cupcakes instead is Café Largarto, Samford’s organic-focused and family-friendly café. Sip on their barista Anita’s famous coffee creations while enjoying their nourishing menu boasting everything from deconstructed apple crumble to tasty savoury treats.

Samford Valley Markets

For those telling Nebo to take a hike, opt for a day down in Samford Valley Markets instead! On 7am – 12pm on the second Saturday of every month, this easy, breezy, foodie experience will have you mingling with the locals and enjoying top pick of all the best fruits, vegetables, and bargains the region has on offer.
