Almost every month, The Black Canvas Co. sets up camp at Aether Brewing Co. for Paint ’n’ Pints. Swapping the usual suspect (vino) for beer, you’ll be cheerin’ as you paint everything from plants to The Great Wave of Kanagawa with a frothy boi by your side. Time to get Leonardo da Drinky.
Cork & Chroma | South Brisbane
Starry night, sippy night. Besides the occasional pop-up location, Cork & Chroma’s studio resides in South Brisbane, pumping out Australia’s brightest and booziest artists thanks to wine (the cause of, and solution to, all of life’s problems). Offering rotating classes every damn day of the week, the studio is your oyster… but our sights are 110% set on the bin chicken class. Look at how majestic he is.
Naïm | Paddington
If the prospect of paint terrifies you, Naïm’s occasional Drinky Drawy class is right up your alley. Held whenever they bloody well please, keep an eye out for the blessed nights of putting your own pen to your own paper for a night of non-judgemental fun. Even though art supplies are BYO, a drink is included in your $10 ticket cost. She’s cheap, she’s fine, and she involves booze, and frankly that’s enough for us.
Montana Art Project | West End
Thinking outside of the blank canvas, Montana Art Project offers unique paint and sip classes. Everything from free flow acrylic pouring to paint-your-own-jeans lessons will be even more fun after a free glass of bubbles on arrival, with the option to BYO beer, wine and soft drink (and that’s obviously an option we will well and truly snap up).
Brush & Barrel | Fortitude Valley
Who’s a good boy? You are if you paint your pup, cat, lizard or wizard. Brush & Barrel are known most for their Paint Your Pet classes, although others on offer every other day let you try your hand at Banksy, Picasso and signature Brush & Barrel pieces. As for the alcohol, these classes are purely BYO… so don’t forget your main booze muse.
Paint ‘n Pour | Various
The secret to fine art is fine wine, but more specifically, a two hour drink tab with charcuterie boards to snack on. Besides these absolutely epic packages, Paint ’n Pour offers weekly sessions at both MD’s Italian Kitchen & Bar and The Belvedere, with over 30 themes to choose from. Pourfect.
