Where to Grab Dinner (or a drink) With A Side of Live Music

Live Music Brisbane
It’s Friday night and the prospect of being grinded on by sweaty eighteen-year-olds in a deafening club just isn’t floating your boat, but if you spend one more weekend in your pyjamas with takeaway and Netflix, someone is going to send for help. Don’t stress – we’ve found the happy medium.

Ladies and gents, we give you the best Brisbane live music venues for a dinner with a soundtrack, so you can enjoy some good tunes, a delicious feed and a cold drink without the hassle.

The Boom Boom Room | CBD

From jazz (hands) to Motown, The Boom Boom Room makes beautiful live music from 6:30pm, Wednesdays to Saturdays, in an opulent basement-level cocktail lounge. Be aware, music isn’t only for your ears here. The expansive cocktail menu is an ‘ode to music’, with each of the 15 expertly curated cocktails inspired by playlists of bygone eras while boasting flavour notes likened to some of music’s greatest up-tempo, jazz, soul, rhythm and blues hits. Ever wondered what Maroon Five’s Moves Like Jagger or Aretha Franklin’s RESPECT would taste like? The Boom Boom Room is the place to find out.

COLLECTIVE KITCHEN & BAR | CBD

Believe it or not, we may have found the PERFECT spot for Friday arvo drinks. Collective Kitchen not only boasts an impressive collection of craft beers, delicious food and provides games (whose difficulty level rapidly increases as your beer intake increases), they also have live tunes every Friday from 5pm! So grab your work mates, order a fig and prosciutto pizza, and treat yourself to the perfect start to the weekend.

THE MILK FACTORY | WEST END

From traditional pub grub like beef burgers and chicken parmigiana to fancier fare like duck pappardelle ragu – the Milk Factory is making a name of itself for more than just its weekly live music program. Come for the cute museo and stay for the arancini and ice-cold beers.

ARCHIVE | WEST END

West End fave Archive has been been keeping us hydrated since 2010, and it’s also host to some of Brisbane’s best musicians. Check out acoustic sets on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7-10pm, and live bands Friday and Saturday. Whilst you’re having a beer and a boogie check out the new menu, grab some tempura beer battered broccolini or tater tots and keep on dancing kiddo.

BRISBANE JAZZ CLUB | KANGAROO POINT

Whether you consider yourself a cool cat, a Joe below or a jive turkey – the Brisbane Jazz Club has an evening with your name on it. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show with braised beef cheek empanadas, grilled Atlantic salmon and braised beef and Guinness pies. Really love what you see? Become a member and keep it jazzy daddy-o.

DOO BOP | CBD

With an appreciation for food as fine as the jazz they play – you can’t look past Doo Bop for a night that’ll transport you back to the jazz age. Kick back upstairs at the piano bar with savoury spring rolls, chicken wings with blue cheese and a duo of sliders whilst you’re serenaded by the 1955 Steinway piano. Or settle in for the evening with confit pork belly, and a bottle of wine in the basement jazz bar.

THE LOUNGE | NUNDAH

Tucked away in sleepy little Nundah is a jazz aficionados dream. Attached to local institution, The Royal, The Lounge has all the comforts of your own lounge room – if you had your own in-house bartender and jazz band. Enjoy cocktails and a large beer and wine selection, as well as antipastos and pizzas whilst you get jiving to the house jazz band every Thursday night.
