For Fox Coffee, this milestone is about more than just surviving. It’s about ten years of being one of the first lights on in the street, standing firm through a global pandemic, and remaining constant for a community that has grown alongside them since day one.
As they pull back the curtain on their newly refurbished store this year, the timing couldn’t be better. The reopening of their expanded store lands right on their 10th anniversary. Since James, Susan, and Peter May first fired up the roaster back in January 2016, Fox has grown from a small roasting dream into a true Geebung stalwart.
“We didn’t think the Espresso Bar would produce 150kg of coffee weekly,” says co-founder Peter May. “We’ve outgrown the space, and it was time to make things more efficient for our team of 20 baristas.”
A Massive “Thank You” to the Locals
If you’ve swung by the warehouse lately, you’ll see the new setup is looking seriously sleek. We’re talking about a workflow that features six Markibar grinders, two La Marzocco machines, and twin Übermilks. While that sounds like a lot of tech, it serves a simple purpose: to make sure you get your coffee faster, without losing the quality Fox Coffee is known for. Can we grab one Crafted blend, please?
But the shiny new gear isn’t just about speed. It’s a big “thank you” to the community that built Fox. The team still remembers the early days vividly, particularly a moment after their first year when a local customer named Brigitte dropped in a small Christmas gift just to thank them for opening in the area. It was gestures like that from Brigitte, and so many others like her, that gave the Mays the inspiration to make Fox the kind of business people truly want to visit and be a part of.
Good Coffee, Made Well
Fox’s vision has always been simple: good coffee, made well. The team just wanted to serve a consistently great brew to local residents and business folk. With this simple premise, they’ve cultivated a strong following among Geebung locals.
Whether you’re there for a bag of the best-selling Crafted blend or a fresh Italian Bomboloni (the filled doughnuts are legendary), you’re part of the Fox story. As the warehouse doors swing open on this next chapter, one thing is for sure: the gear might be new, but the soul is exactly what it was that made it a beloved icon in Geebung.
